Attititude or Graditude?

Thanksgiving…it’s all about food and football right?  Having to spend time with family that drives you crazy!  Another day of cooking, cleaning and chasing kids…blah, blah, blah!

Holidays aren’t enjoyed by everyone.  Maybe you’ve lost a loved one, your children aren’t coming this year, you have no family to share the holiday with, money is tight and you just don’t feel like celebrating.

Scripture tells us “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:18, NIV).  Give thanks in everything, that can be challenging …we may not feel very grateful.  There are things that cause a negative effect on our lives that steal our joy and cause us to take our eyes off the Savior.

Sometimes I find myself going through the motions.  I’m spiritually and mentally prepared for whatever event we have for the day but my heart just isn’t in it.  My attitude stinks and I just can’t get myself out of the mood I’m in.  I’m not FOCUSED on Him!

“Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel.” (Psalms 22:3,NIV)

Love Heart, you may not feel you have anything to be “Thankful” for, but I challenge you to seek HIM.  Take your focus from you to others.

Volunteer at a shelter or hospital.   Invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers over for dinner…  Your probably not the only one alone this holiday.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.  His love endures forever.  (Psalm 136:1, NIV)

Life is what you make it, Reach out…change that attitude to gratitude. ~Deb
