God’s Plan B

February 28, 2017 — 1 Comment

My husband and I tried unsuccessfully for 6 years to have a baby.  After lots of discussion, we decided to adopt.  What an ordeal!  We were with an agency for 2 years and still no baby.  In the meantime, we were searching the private adoption opportunities.  Two of those had fallen through, breaking our hearts each time.

Then someone from our church knew someone at another church whose daughter needed to make a plan for her baby.  We met with her and her mother.  About a month later, our son, Charlie, was born.  Now, do you think that was God’s Plan B for our lives?  Absolutely not!

You see, before the foundations of the world, God knew Charlie would need us to be his parents, and we needed Charlie to be our son. God says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

But, don’t forget what comes right after that in the first part of verse 13.  “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you.”

Remember Psalms 139:13, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

Every life is precious beyond measure to God.  We’re His handiwork, His special project. You can’t know the plans if you don’t talk to the Planner.  If things in your life are not going like you think they should be, or seemingly like everybody else’s life, talk to the Planner.  He’s got a plan custom designed just for YOU. Gwen~  Oh, yeah, Charlie was 25 in December.  What a blessing he has been!

No, Never Alone~

My husband and I were having dinner at a local eatery when I noticed a man, about 80 years old, dining alone in a secluded area of the restaurant.

He sat down at a table in the middle of the room, and there he was – all alone in a place that would hold 50 people.  His wrinkled finger wore a wedding band.

Immediately, my heart broke for him.  Had his wife passed away, or was she in a nursing home?  Did he have any children, or did they live far away?  Was he as alone as he seemed?

Listen to what our God says.  “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Heb. 13:5).

I don’t know about the spiritual condition of this fellow, but if he’s trusted the One True God, he is not alone, no matter where he is.  Now, he may be lonely, but not alone.

God’s promises are true and He’s never failed to do anything that He’s said he would do.  So, as a child of God, rest in His promises.  He will never leave or forsake you.  Amen and Amen.  Gwen~
