Archives For Gifts

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives should change everything we do.  We are not the same as we were before we invited the Lord into our lives.

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.   Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.   For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:12-14, NIV)

When God gives us a task to do; we should do it and NOW!  You may not have a “Next Time!”

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”

“Don’t put God off till Sunday”…he doesn’t work on the same timetable we do!  Christ waits for others to come, but he will come whether we are prepared or not!

“But our citizenship is in heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ…” (Philippians 3:20, NIV)

Bridal Falls

These trees are nestled in the middle of Bridal Falls in Canada.  Isn’t it just amazing?  Our God puts this master piece in front of us to view just because he loves us.

As I looked at the photo a story came to mind, “The Three Trees.”   It reminds us that God has a plan and if we place our trust in Him it will come out better than we could possible imagine! Deb~ Luke 2:1-7, Matthew 8:23-27 and Matthew 27:32-38

silenceOver the years, my family has seen some hard times.  We’ve been without jobs, without a home, and hurt to the bone by “church people.”

We’ve been lied about and lied to.  During those times, God seemed to have turned His back on us.  The silence was deafening.

My heart is so heavy for my friends who are experiencing a really low spot in the road.  Nothing seems to be going right for them.

They have had one disappointment after another for a couple of years now, and it seems as though things just keep getting worse.  They just can’t catch a break.tough times

Is it possible that those horrible days are a wonderful gift from God?  What if I say that God sees?  That His attention has not been deflected from them or their circumstances?  And He’s not at a loss about what to do with their situation!

I’m not foolish enough to think that they want to hear that right now.  I know I certainly wouldn’t have appreciated it when my back was to the wall.

But this I know.  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28

Sometimes, being called to His purpose is a rough ride.  Once we’re on the other side of the ditch, we can see God’s ditchhand orchestrating wonderful events that would not have happened without the hard times.

None of us want difficulties.  But things will seem much more tolerable if we try to see things through God’s eyes – to look at every situation as though it’s been custom designed with incredible love just for us, because in fact, it has.

He is a very personal God, and He’s working things for our eternal good, not necessarily our temporal good.

If you’re there, Love Heart, look up.  Your God is there.  Gwen~

I read a story recently about a man who loved animals.  He worked from his house and his front door would not stay closed unless it was locked.  The man rarely bothered to lock it.

One day he was working and heard his front door open.  He went to see what the noise was and discovered that a neighborhood dog named Buster had pushed it open.

The man gave Buster a treat and ruffled his ears a bit.  The dog returned each day.  He would push the door open and wait for the man to come to him.  He never barged his way in or begged for his treat.  He just waited patiently until the man came to him and he always came.

As the weeks went by Buster started bringing some of his friends with him.  Sometimes these furry friends wouldn’t go home! People would smile as they went by the man’s house.  The front door would be open and they knew that he was inside enjoying the fellowship of Buster and his friends.

This man showed love.  The ones he shared with shared and look what happened.   Unconditional Love and fellowship.  I think we all want a little be of that!  Reach out and share the love of Christ.   Someone is waiting for an invite!!  Deb~

1 John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

You Belong!

pigtailsFrom time to time I wear my hair in pigtails or dogears.  I realize most women my age don’t, but I guess I’m not most women!

The weird thing is that the one on the left side of my head is bigger than the one on the right side because I have more hair on the left side of my head!

Anyhow, they are still both pigtails on one head…mine.

Now in the church, there are stronger Christians and weaker Christians – both still members of the same congregation and ultimately, members of the same familymany members of Christ.  1 Corinthians 12:12-31 speaks specifically of this thing.  Just because you may feel like you are weak it doesn’t mean you’re not needed!

Love Heart, God knows!  Do you understand that?  He knows all about you and loves  you with an everlasting love.  There is still a plan and a purpose uniquely created just for you!

Go back and read the entire 12th chapter, and then take some time to thank God for who you are and who you are in Him!  He’s crazy about you!  Gwen~
