I have spent quite a lot of time monitoring the visits between children who have been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services and their parents. The one term that can be applied to all of them is sad.
But the saddest thing is when the mom arrives for the visit accompanied by her mom and their actions are identical…rough, tough, mean and addicted. I remember thinking that these adults don’t know that they can live life a different way. They’re stuck in a generational way of existence. What about that little one? Is she destined for the same way of life? God forbid!
We all know that not everybody who knows the Lord walks in His righteousness. Many who know Jesus, at one time or another, go their own way…often with disastrous results. Remember the Prodigal Son?
But, if you know Jesus, you have a distinct advantage over those who don’t. You have somewhere to turn, Someone to turn to who can make a difference. I Corinthians 10:13 gives us hope and assurance. “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” (NIV 1984)
Love Heart, if you’re caught up in a cycle of destruction know this…God Can Break This Bondage Over You and Yours no matter what it is! Drugs, alcohol, prostitution…it doesn’t matter. He is able! Notice in the scripture these words for your comfort…“And God is faithful.” If you know someone who has twisted off the path or maybe never been on it, take the time to share with them that life can be different-incredibly different, and their social status has nothing to do with what’s available to them. Rich, poor, bond or free, God gives freely who all who ask! Gwen~
