Archives For believer

imageOne of the first things you learn in sentence sturcture is whether it’s a person, place or thing?  At least that’s what I remember from my school days!

I have a question?  Where does The Holy Spirit fall in there for you?

The Holy Spirt is said to be a “Helper/Counselor” in John 14;16,26.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – (John 14:16, NIV)

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”image

As a helper/counselor, I believe the Holy Spirt to be a person.  As a believer, He comes to live and dwell inside us.  The Spirit knows Gods thoughts and guides us in understanding His ways. (1 Corinthians 2:10-11, NIV)

If you don’t know Him and your in need of a “Helper”, His name is Jesus Christ!~Debra

I had a weekend full of temptation and I must confess I failed miserably.

I imagehave Celiac Disease.  Celiac disease is a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction to eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye, and possibly oats.

This definition only contains a small list of the things that have gluten in them.  It’s everywhere!!

I know that we all face temptation on a daily basis and this is very minor compared to some, but it is something I struggle with.

“When tempted, no one should say, God is tempting me. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he temp anyone, but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.” (James 1:13-14) image

In my mind, I tell myself it won’t hurt just this one time!  The truth is; it’s killing me.  Seriously!   I need to resign myself to the fact that I can’t have certain things because they are not good for me!!

“Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” (James 1:15-16)

It’s a mindset!  We must resign ourselves to the fact that some things are just not good for us and will ultimately destroy us.

Let us pray to our Father for strength to resist temptation! ~Debra

She Does What?

people at an officeImagine you’re working in a different office for a couple of weeks where no one knows you.  You interact day after day, making friends as you go.  At the end of your time with them, you pass out your card that says you’re a part of a ministry.

Do they think, “I knew something was different about her,” or do they say, “You mean she goes to church?”

Love Heart, it’s just my opinion, but I think the disobedientgossiping Christian does more harm to the unbeliever than another unbeliever.  They have to be able to see something different in you other than the fact that you call yourself a Christian.  I can call myself asparagus but that doesn’t make it so!

Paul says in Ephesians 4:1, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

I wish I could tell you that all the days I have lived since I was 9 years old were worthy of the calling of Christ.  The Godtruth is that most of my days probably have not been lived in a worthy manner.  But that doesn’t mean I give up.  It means I keep putting one foot in front of the other and asking God to live through me!

If you are uncomfortable by what you’ve read, maybe you should reconsider the way you live. Maybe you need to live for Him instead of yourself. Make a change,Love Heart, and go with God.  Gwen~

Broken Heart??

July 9, 2014 — Leave a comment

At lunch I was listening to a commentary on the radio.  The man was recalling the death of his parents.

His mother’s death was a sweet time together. No words, there wasn’t a need for any.  She had loved him and been a wonderful uplifting example. He did however pray a blessing over her and thanked her for all she had done for him.

His father’s passing wasn’t a time of love and refection but the son still prayed a blessing over his father to which his father cursed him.

The man reflected on how this had hurt him but was reminded by the Holy Spirit even though his earthly father hadn’t blessed him but made him feel as if he’d come into the world as a negative…He still had his Heavenly Father!

You may have not had the best relationship with your earthly father but that doesn’t define who you are!  Remember if you are a believer, you are a child of the King.  And if you aren’t, you can change that!

God loves you with a love that is unconditional, Love Heart!  Just ask Him in and He can set you Free!!

th (2)But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (NLT) ( Galatians 5:22-23 )

Ever wonder if someone is a believer? Take a look at their life. Do they express joy? Do they show love towards everyone? Do they display uncommon gentleness? The above qualities are inherent to the Holy Spirit. While these characteristics may not always be evident, it becomes a reflection of how spending time with God will produce these uncommon characteristics. What about you? Have you been spending time with the Holy Spirit to produce this kind of fruit in your life?~Debra
