One Body…

August 9, 2016 — Leave a comment

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV)

A believer who tries to live apart from other believers is like a log that has been removed from a fire. Separated from the other wood, its chance of continuing to burn aren’t very good.  The more time spent away from the other logs, its glow will begin to fade and it will begin to turn cold.

Logs that remain in the fire and burn along side the other logs burn bright and hotter!

That’s how it is for you and me.  When we have the support and encouragement  of fellow believers we stay focused and on Fire for the Lord!

“You are the light of the world…” (Matthew 5:14,NIV)

Salt and Light

“You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses it saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put I under a bowl.  Instead they put I on its stand, and it give light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let you light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

As I celebrate my birthday today,  I wonder what my life has meant to others.  I’m “Thankful” that God holds me accountable and guides me to be Salt and Light to others.~Debra

Are you Salty?  Do others look at you and want what you have in Christ Jesus?

If not; changes need to be made!

Be in prayer and in the Word seeking His answer!

I pray that together we will be the salt and light in this dark world. ~Debra

Understanding

April 15, 2015 — Leave a comment

My husband had gone to men’s prayer breakfast and to enjoy some skeet shooting with the boys and I enjoyed sleeping in until 9:00 which rarely happens anymore.

Fixed myself some breakfast and went out on the deck to have my quite time.

Cool breeze, Bible and Dr Pepper.  What more could a woman ask for?

My devotion was on understanding the Bible.  How many times have you heard someone say they don’t understand what the Bible is saying, even believers?

The key to understanding the Bible is obedience.  When we act on what we read the scripture “comes alive.”

Why should God continue to reveal his word to us if we are not going to obey it?  “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.  To Him belongs eternal praise.” (Psalms 111:10)

Obedience is they key to understanding! Deb~

Sponge

imageLove Heart ministries strives to encourage.  As believers, we are called to do just that!

“So encourage each other and give each other strength, just as you are doing now.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11, NCV)

Yet, many believers take on the “sponge” mentality.  We soak up all we can, through church and bible studies, but we fail to squeeze out anything on others. image

God’s message should effect our life in such a way that it spills out on others.

“So we have been sent to speak for Christ.  It is as if God is calling to you through us.  We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20, NCV)

Soak it up, but don’t keep it to yourself! ~Debra
