Texas our Texas

The Lord has opened the door for me to travel to places I never thought possible.

th (3)I remember on my trip to Canada someone asking…”where are you from?” My reply, Texas!  It never occurred to me to say, America.   I’m very proud to be an American but Texas is my home.

What makes Texas my home?  Family, friends, beliefs; our way of life.  It makes me stronger just knowing where I come from.  th (4)

I’ve found it to be the same as you fellowship with a body of believers.  You can call it by many names…”Christian, Believer, Follower of Christ!”  What makes us strong?  Our Faith!

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”  Heb 11:1 (NIV)

A common believe; a strong conviction where people no longer rely on their own strength but commit to the power and guiding word of Him in whom they believe.

th (5)“Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Rom 10:17 (NIV)

“Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” (Matthew 13:1-23, NIV)

My husband had gone to men’s prayer breakfast and to enjoy some skeet shooting with the boys and I enjoyed sleeping in until 9:00 which rarely happens anymore.

Fixed myself some breakfast and went out on the deck for my quite time.

Cool breeze, Bible and Dr Pepper.  What more could a woman ask for?

My devotion was on understanding the Bible.  How many times have you heard someone say they don’t understand what the Bible is saying, even believers?

The key to understanding the Bible is obedience.  When we act on what we read; the scripture “comes alive.”  Think about it.

Why should God continue to reveal his word to us if we are not going to obey it?  “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.  To Him belongs eternal praise.” (Psalms 111:10)

Hmmm!  Guess I should start practicing what I preach!   Deb~

Against the Wind

May 16, 2011 — Leave a comment

As believers we have a path that God wants us to follow.  When we deviate from that path, we are blown around like the wind, no path, just going were the wind takes us.

We end up getting our feathers ruffled just like this mother duck and her ducklings.  Wondering what the heck is going on?

Our actions don’t just affect us, you see!  We have a HUGE sphere of influence.  Seek Him in every decision.

God is faithful and if we follow Him, He will set us on the right path.  The winds will still come but you’ll be steady and strong!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (Jeremiah 29:11) Deb~
