Life is in the Blood~

plasmaOne of the most grueling things that I used to do was donate plasma.  The actual donation was not difficult, but the screening was brutal.  I’d answer the same 25 questions about my life and lifestyle each time I went.  Because I couldn’t get a fingerprint to work, I have to be asked the questions by a technician.

Once that was finished, I’d have a finger stick.  They’d take that little tube of blood-filled glass and spin it in a machine to separate the parts of the blood.  Each part was then measured.  Iron and protein rates were determined.  I’d be weighed and my temperature, blood pressure and heart rate were taken.

They’d examine the inside and outside of my elbows and between my fingers.  If I was bruised at the site of the last donation, or if one little thing was over the limit by as much as .1, it would be a no-go for the day.  During the actual donation process, which lasted about an hour, plasma was separated from the red blood cells and the red blood cells were returned to me.

Jesus' bloodWhere am I going with this?  In order to donate plasma, everything about you has to be just right.  With Jesus, He takes you just as you are!  You don’t have to clean up or fix up to come to Him.

When you belong to Him, He makes you clean – by His perfect blood.  Why is His blood important?  Because the Holy Scripture says in Hebrews 9:22, “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”  That’s why His blood was shed.

blood of JesusIf you’re waiting until you think you’re acceptable before you come to Christ forget it!  You won’t ever be acceptable on your own.  That’s the amazing thing.  His arms are open and waiting for you today…just as you are!  Gwen~

th (6)As I was reading through the Old Testament, I was reminded of a stunning realization.  Every time they came before the Father confessing their sins, they had to bring a lamb for slaughter.

This also brought to mind what my Salvation cost my Savior.  He couldn’t have just died of natural causes.  Redemption couldn’t work without the “shedding of blood.”  Without it there is no forgiveness.

“And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22)

Love Heart, the flogging and crucifixion of Christ was a horrible, bloody mess.  It should be gut wrenching to us.  Have you thanked Christ for His sacrifice and His gift of Eternal th (5)Salvation?

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesian 2:8-9)

thMany of you have heard the incredible story of Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection on a cruel cross.  It was told by men that lived and walked along side of our Savior.  You’ll find scripture accounts in all four gospels.

Crucifixion was a horrific form of death and Jesus suffered a great deal on our behalf, but the story doesn’t end there.

“He is not here, he has risen….Mark 28:6, NIV.

Job 19:25-27, NIV  “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon th earth.  And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes- I, and not another.  How my heart yearns within me!
