Archives For challenges

I accepted Christ as a child and knew that my decision was lasting but didn’t know where to turn next.  I didn’t receive good direction and teaching.

Therefore my roots weren’t strong and deep to withstand challenges.

It reminds me of the parable of the Sower from Matthew 13:5-6… “A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some feel on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.”

Love Heart, challenges and temptations will come your way.  Stand strong in the Lord and don’t give an inch or Satan will take a mile.

Stay rooted in God’s Word, be careful the company you keep and walk away from dangerous situation…just walk away! ~Deb

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”    (I Corinthians 10:13, NIV)

My friend here is Alice. We had the priviledge of getting to know each other at “Family Camp”, while on mission trip in Canada.  Alice is a great young lady that faces challenges everyday as you can well imagine.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who love us.” (Romans 8: 35.37, NIV)

I’ve learned through my years of working with special needs
personalities …it’s all in the attitude!!  We all face challenges and it’s our choice as to whether we are going to enjoy life…or play the victim.

Alice enjoys life!  The children surrounding her learned from her example.  They were a little hesitant at first but all it took was one stepping up to befriend her and the rest followed.   It was amazing to watch the love of God flow as each reached out to serve.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18:16-17,NIV)

Her speech is a little slurred and I was having difficulty getting her message some of the time, which is unusual for me.   Then it dawned on me…I looked at the other kiddos and asked, is she speaking Chinese?  They all begin to laugh, Alice the hardest!  Jokes on Debra!

Remember to embrace life, seize opportunities and treat others as you want to be treated no matter the circumstances.  You just might enjoy yourself.  Deb~
