Archives For choice

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me

All the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

(Psalms 23, NIV)

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  He laid down His life for the sheep allowing us to walk in green pastures and beside the still waters as we have the knowledge that we will, as believers, spend eternity with Him.

“I am the good Shepherd.  The good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, NIV)

But Love Heart, there is more to this journey than just accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.  We must follow

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24, NIV)

If we want to be among the Good Shepherd’s sheep we must take up the cross, deny those things that cause us to wander, and follow Him.

It’s a daily choice…it’s a discipline…it’s walking in Christ strength and not our own.  ~Debra

If you watch football, like I do, you know that defense is a term used for the team to defend against the opposing team.

We as believers need to have a defense of our very own.  Against our ENEMY…Satan!

He is constantly looking for ways to trip us up!  One way…“Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  (2 Peter 5:8, NIV)

Temptation is something we must comprehend in order to defend.  How does temptation originate?  It usually starts with a thought. This isn’t an accident…probably an arrow sent by the Satan to derail us.  “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrow of the evil one.”  (Eph. 6:16)

To sin or not to sin…that is the question!  It’s very dangerous and the decision can be made in an instant!

Wise believers decide ahead of time to protect themselves from temptation before it enters their mind.  How you ask?  Comment to obey God and know that He is in control and has limited Satan abilities. “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Satan has a way of making sin look fun and exciting.  He wants us to live in the moment.  But we need to look at the bigger picture and ask ourselves a question or two…Is this choice in line with God’s word?  What’s the cost?  Are we willing to pay the price?

What is our best defense against temptation? Meditation on God’s word and daily prayer.  It builds our faith and strengthens our heart and mind against any arrows the devil sends our way!

Love Heart, remember…Defense, Defense, Defense…~Deb

LIFE OR DEATH

February 23, 2014 — Leave a comment

imageGod’s word often speaks of death being the key to life in Christ.  This is speaking of a Spiritual death, not physical.

When we become a believer our heart begins to change.  This doesn’t happen overnight, but each day we grow closer to our Creator, our perspective changes.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21,NIV)  image

Get yourself a pen and paper and ask yourself a few questions.

1) Am I living to please others?

2) Am I obsessed in finding a mate?

3) Am I a party animal?

4) Do I base my morals on others and what is pleasing to the eye?

If so, you are living for the world.  Living this way will leave you extremely empty and incomplete.  Freedom takes place when “we die to self” and allow God to give us the desires of our heart!

Take your focus off of “things” and put it on Christ!~Debra

You Do Have A Choice!

January 11, 2014 — Leave a comment
imageDo you ever question if faith in Jesus in the only way to be saved?  Satan is very crafty.  He lies and twists God’s word to confuse us!  He would have everyone believe that sooner or later everyone will make it to heaven.  Is that what scripture tells us?
We have a choice to reject or accept Christ’s gift of salvation.  “God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not condemned; he who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:17-18, NIV)
The scripture clearly states that …”whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV).  We only have this time on earth to make that choice.  There are no second chances after death! Why not make sure of your salvation today, and ask Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. God promises eternity for those who make that decision and wrath to those who don’t.  “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; but whoever rejects the son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. ” (John 3:36, NIV)
imageDo not be fooled by the lure of a second chance.  Remember, there are no second chances after death.  We have this life to accept or reject Christ! What is your decision?  ~Deb

Day by Day

th (1)The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you choose, what you think and what you do is who you become.

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. (Philippians 1:6 AMP)
