We just finished with our Christmas musical at our church. It takes lots of work…let me tell you.
Practice with the choir. Listening to cd’s of the musical performance day in day out. Practice again, again and again.
And for those of us who had solos. More practice. It can take its toll on you and if you’re not real careful you can start to resent the Christmas season.
The evening arrives for us to share all our hard work with the members of our congregation. We’re nervous, anxious, and more than ready.
Our director gives a nod to the pianist and three cords into the first song realizes our drummer isn’t in his place. Oh, boy….
The director apologies for the interruption and explains that our “Drummer Boy” is missing. As if on cue…he comes running in.
Laughter filled the air and what a sigh of relief. It helped relieve our jitters and we were underway in no time.
For the first time I actually enjoyed singing the songs we had prepared so hard for. There was a joy in the words of each song. Unspeakable joy!
What is unspeakable joy? Joy that is just, just…indescribable!
It shows in your face, body, soul and spirit. I could feel the presence of the Lord and sang with abandonment.
Isn’t it funny how that little hiccup gave me a peace as we shared Gods love in song?
I have joy because I know Jesus, and I want to invite you to share with me in that joy!
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NIV)
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
Join me…confess, repent and celebrate with joy! ~Deb
