Are You Wise?

December 4, 2012 — Leave a comment

If you’ve ever seen a Christmas play, you’ve seen the shepherds, and the wise men.  Do you consider yourself to be wise?  Wisdom is a tricky thing.  It can lead to pride if it’s not grounded in truth.

Check this. In the Old Testament, the book of Proverbs is sometimes called the book of wisdom.  It was written by Solomon, the wisest of all men, and others. Proverbs 3:7 says,Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.”  Solomon understood what real wisdom is – fear, or reverence, of the Lord.

Again, Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”  Looks like men of old understood this also!

Listen to part of the Christmas story.  “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the eastand have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2 (NIV)  They knew Who He was and came to worship Him.  They truly were wise men.

Do you know Him and all the wonder associated with Him, or are you counting on your own wisdom?  Love Heart, don’t be wise in your own eyes, but fear the Lord.  This Christmas season, do a little self-examination and see where your wisdom lies.  Hopefully, it’s in the truth of Christ.  If not, make that change!  Gwen~

I have a friend who has a quilting business, Sageford Quilting.  I wanted something unique for my grandgirls for Christmas and thought a quilt for each would be just the right thing.

I gave Susan a call and she told me to come over so that she could show me some samples.

After some discussion we decided on a design and she told me to choose eight different patterns of material and get a yard of each.  How difficult can that be?

As I started going through the bolts of material, I got it into my head that the pattern had to match my girl’s personality.    I didn’t think I was ever going to get colors, patterns and personalities to match!

Just like these quilts, my girls are different in pattern and personality.  Each has a gift to be used of God.  I pray as they grow their eyes will be open to God’s plan for their life and that their gifts will be used of Him.

Romans 12:6, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others , let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”

My job as Gamma…?  Being the example that God would have me to be and pray’em up, pray’em up!!
