Check this. In the Old Testament, the book of Proverbs is sometimes called the book of wisdom. It was written by Solomon, the wisest of all men, and others. Proverbs 3:7 says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” Solomon understood what real wisdom is – fear, or reverence, of the Lord.
Again, Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Looks like men of old understood this also!
Listen to part of the Christmas story. “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the eastand have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2 (NIV) They knew Who He was and came to worship Him. They truly were wise men.
Do you know Him and all the wonder associated with Him, or are you counting on your own wisdom? Love Heart, don’t be wise in your own eyes, but fear the Lord. This Christmas season, do a little self-examination and see where your wisdom lies. Hopefully, it’s in the truth of Christ. If not, make that change! Gwen~
