One Body…

August 9, 2016 — Leave a comment

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV)

A believer who tries to live apart from other believers is like a log that has been removed from a fire. Separated from the other wood, its chance of continuing to burn aren’t very good.  The more time spent away from the other logs, its glow will begin to fade and it will begin to turn cold.

Logs that remain in the fire and burn along side the other logs burn bright and hotter!

That’s how it is for you and me.  When we have the support and encouragement  of fellow believers we stay focused and on Fire for the Lord!

“You are the light of the world…” (Matthew 5:14,NIV)

She Does What?

people at an officeImagine you’re working in a different office for a couple of weeks where no one knows you.  You interact day after day, making friends as you go.  At the end of your time with them, you pass out your card that says you’re a part of a ministry.

Do they think, “I knew something was different about her,” or do they say, “You mean she goes to church?”

Love Heart, it’s just my opinion, but I think the disobedientgossiping Christian does more harm to the unbeliever than another unbeliever.  They have to be able to see something different in you other than the fact that you call yourself a Christian.  I can call myself asparagus but that doesn’t make it so!

Paul says in Ephesians 4:1, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

I wish I could tell you that all the days I have lived since I was 9 years old were worthy of the calling of Christ.  The Godtruth is that most of my days probably have not been lived in a worthy manner.  But that doesn’t mean I give up.  It means I keep putting one foot in front of the other and asking God to live through me!

If you are uncomfortable by what you’ve read, maybe you should reconsider the way you live. Maybe you need to live for Him instead of yourself. Make a change,Love Heart, and go with God.  Gwen~

Praise the Father

imageWe are missing our church fellowship this Sunday morning, my poor husband is trying to pass a kidney stone.  Ouch!

That doesn’t mean, however,  that we are missing worship.  As we read His word and listen to praise music, we feel him renewing our strength.

Time spent with God is never wasted! ~ Debra

“but those who hope in The Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV)

As believers we are encouraged to bring others to church with us.  It’s wonderful to fellowship together, provide encouragement, and grow in the knowledge of God’s word.

It occurred to me as I read my Bible that people weren’t brought to the synagogue to see Jesus.  He went out among the people and that’s where they saw His power!

I’m not saying we shouldn’t invite people to church but that we should lead by example and that will bring them to the church.

When is the last time a family member, friend or co-worker saw something happen in your life that could only be explained by God’s power working in you.

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:4).

We need to remember it’s not words that impact people; it’s God’s power working through us! ~Debra

Iron Sharpens Iron

September 17, 2012 — Leave a comment

Do you think church is important?  I can believe and serve without every darkening the doors of our local church…right?

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17

The idea of church fellowship is that we grow from interaction with one another.  We don’t live in a vacuum therefore change happens through a relationship with others and most importantly, Jesus Christ.

“For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20, NIV)

The bottom line…we need each other, Love Heart, for accountability, growth, and encouragement! ~Debra
