One of my favorite Bible messages is “David and Goliath.” I love when David stands before Goliath and says….”You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of The Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled. This day The Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beast of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.” (1 Samuel 45-46, NIV)
His brothers were mortified and the Israeli army thought he was crazy, but as David faced Goliath he remembered the lion and the bear that he had defeated and it gave him courage to stand boldly.
David, a shepherd boy, spent many long hours watching his sheep and communicating with The Lord. He was led by the Spirit to make this stand and he knew His God, The Lord God of Israel, wouldn’t let him down!
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31,NIV) ~Debra
