God is in Control!

October 17, 2016 — Leave a comment

Why do bad things happen to good people? I don’t have an answer.  In the middle of different trials, I will admit I have cried out, “Lord, why did this happen?”  So far, I haven’t come up with any answers, but there is one thing I’m VERY sure of… God is real and in control!

Nothing happens that He doesn’t know about before hand.  He has a purpose for every experience in our lives no matter how painful it might be.  (Romans 8:28) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

There is no way I can grasp God’s greater plan through your heart ache or loss, but I know that He is with you through your pain, confusion, helplessness, and loss!

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”(Isaiah 55:8-9)

One of my favorite gospel songs…”My God is Real, real in my soul, my God is real for He has washed and made me whole, His love for me, is like pure gold, my God is real for I can feel Him in my soul.”

I stay rooted in His word and His promise!!  Deb~

Give God a Try!

There are many around the world who believe in reincarnation.  As I understand it, when you die you can come back to earth as anything from an insect to a human.  Some also believe that eventually, you can achieve a release from the bondage you have been in on earth.  Notice I say, as I understand it.

God’s word tells us this in Hebrews 9:27-28, “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

Love Heart, if you are seeking to understand the afterlife, please read God’s word.  He and He alone is the Authority on Life and Death.  Jesus Himself says in Revelation 1:17b-18, “Do not be afraid.  I am the First and the Last.  I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!  And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Some of you may have experimented with many religions but have dismissed Christianity as something for the weak.  That couldn’t be further from the truth!  God will release you from the bondage of sin.  Give Him a try. Gwen~

Many of us have hard lives, and others of us just think we do. But consider our brother Job. Now there’s a guy who knows trouble and in huge quantities! In one fateful day, he lost all his considerable wealth and all his children.

Shortly thereafter, he was afflicted with boils that covered his body from his head to his feet. A more miserable man would have been difficult to find. One verse in the book of Job has always really stuck out to me. It says, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him.”

Now Love Heart, to say that takes conviction! Most of us want to collapse at the hint of a hangnail, but Job was keenly aware that his only hope was in God.

He listens to the advice of his friends then decides to plead his case directly to God. The ensuing conversation is a bit one-sided. At the end of the story, Job has a much clearer understanding of who he is and who God is. And still, he knows his only hope is in God.

Have circumstances gotten you beaten down? Are you trying to do it on your own? Whatever it is, take it to God. Know this – He owns all the resources, and your best resource is Him. Gwen~

The Cross…

April 27, 2015

What does the cross mean to you?  Some say it’s a symbol of Christianity, but let’s take a look at what it represents.

The cross was a torturous means of executuion but we believers have chosen it as a sign of faith.  To remove the cross from our teaching would leave our theology empty and powerless.

No one wants to consider the pain and sacrifice that Jesus endured on the cross for our sins.  We would rather hear of his love and provision.

Remember Love Heart, there is NO forgiveness without the shedding of blood.

“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22, NIV)

Everytime you see a cross, remember it really was a means of torture.  Jesus was willing to sacrifice his life…the shedding of His blood, that you might have eternal life.

It’s was also an intrument of LOVE…~Debra

thJust heard on the news concerning the zombie craze, that a Halloween costume store owner made this comment, “people like the idea of dead people coming to life.”

INTERESTING…My Savior brought that concept to reality thousands of years ago.  His name is Jesus!

“And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.  The earth shook the rocks split and the tombs broke open. “ (Matthew 27:50-52)

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.  Come and see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:5-6)  th (1)
