I had a weekend full of temptation and I must confess I failed miserably.
I have Celiac Disease. Celiac disease is a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction to eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye, and possibly oats.
This definition only contains a small list of the things that have gluten in them. It’s everywhere!!
I know that we all face temptation on a daily basis and this is very minor compared to some, but it is something I struggle with.
“When tempted, no one should say, God is tempting me. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he temp anyone, but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.” (James 1:13-14)
In my mind, I tell myself it won’t hurt just this one time! The truth is; it’s killing me. Seriously! I need to resign myself to the fact that I can’t have certain things because they are not good for me!!
“Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” (James 1:15-16)
It’s a mindset! We must resign ourselves to the fact that some things are just not good for us and will ultimately destroy us.
Let us pray to our Father for strength to resist temptation! ~Debra
