Holy Fire

Actions speak louder than words!  I’m sure you’ve heard that saying before.

James 2:14 says, “What good is it, my brother, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?  Can such faith save him?”

If you see your brother in need but don’t lift a finger to help; your faith is dead!

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:17, NIV)

I know that we can’t afford to help everyone in need but if we ALL choose one thing, one person, one action; what a leap of faith that would be.  Acknowledge that we are different than the rest of the world.

“But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.” (James 2:18, NIV).

Love Heart, not everything in this ole world is going to work in our favor.  It’s how we walk through that time that will let our light shine before others.

Abraham was considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac as a sacrifice.  His faith and his actions worked together.  Rehab the prostitute was considered righteous for hiding the spies and sending them off in the opposite direction.

“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” (James 2:26, NIV)

Father God, anoint me with Holy Fire that I may apply action to my walk! Deb

God is in Control!

October 17, 2016 — Leave a comment

Why do bad things happen to good people? I don’t have an answer.  In the middle of different trials, I will admit I have cried out, “Lord, why did this happen?”  So far, I haven’t come up with any answers, but there is one thing I’m VERY sure of… God is real and in control!

Nothing happens that He doesn’t know about before hand.  He has a purpose for every experience in our lives no matter how painful it might be.  (Romans 8:28) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

There is no way I can grasp God’s greater plan through your heart ache or loss, but I know that He is with you through your pain, confusion, helplessness, and loss!

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”(Isaiah 55:8-9)

One of my favorite gospel songs…”My God is Real, real in my soul, my God is real for He has washed and made me whole, His love for me, is like pure gold, my God is real for I can feel Him in my soul.”

I stay rooted in His word and His promise!!  Deb~

Wind turbines can generate electric power anywhere the wind is blowing strong and steady.  The momentum of the moving air propels the large blades that are attached to the source that produces the electric energy.

Prayer generates power when you tap into the right source.  The momentum doesn’t come from our power but the one who’s being prayed to.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he ears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1John 5:14-15, NIV)

Prayer is not used as if we have a “secret formula”…it’s not based on how we pray, if we use fancy words, pray in a certain place, or repeat the same prayer over and over (Matthew 6:5).

It’s the source of the power that we should seek…  “Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”  (Matthew 17:20, NIV)

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5, NIV)

Go Fish

August 13, 2016 — Leave a comment

imageI’m reading this wonderful book, The Circle Maker, by Mark Batterson.

This morning he’s recounting the time when Jesus and his disciples were in Capernaum and they were asked for the temple tax.

Jesus told Peter to go fishing!  What?  Yep, to go fishing and the first fish he caught he was too look it’s mouth and he would find four-drachma.  He was to use this to pay the taxes.

If I was Peter, I would probably thinking, uh…I’m  a professional fisherman and I’ve never caught one with four drachma in it before.

Long story short, if you’ve caught thousands of fish in your life time, how do you have faith to believe the next one will have a coin in it?  How do you know that God will keep his promise?  “Obey the crazy prompting!”

“If you want to see crazy miracles, obey the crazy promings of the Holy Spirit”, Go Fish~Debra

WHO TOUCHED ME?!

August 1, 2016 — Leave a comment

Have you ever been in a crowd that is toe to toe, shoulder to shoulder?  Then someone ask…WHO TOUCHED ME?  Really?

A man named Jairus came to Jesus for help because his daughter was dying.  On his way to help his daughter a crowd welcomed Him and almost crushed Him.

There was a woman that had been sick for a very long time and no one was able to help her.  She came up behind Jesus  and know if she could just and touch the  edge of his garment, she would be healed!  She just had to reach out!  Scripture tell us that she was instantly healed!

Then came the question??  “Who touched me?” “Jesus knew that someone had touched him and said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

Peter was amazed at such a question with all the people that were pressing in, but the woman being afraid came forward and fell at His feet admitting it was her.  She told all the people how she had touched his garment and was instantly heal “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in Peace.”

Lessons we can learn from this account in God’s word!    Luke 8:43-56, NIV.

  • We never really know who is standing in a crowd.  Someone who is desperate…looking for a friendly face.
  • We never fully appreciate the power of God until we see it!
  • We don’t always perceive what God perceives!

This woman left that day without the problem she came with!  Christ had given her Peace!  Are you looking for peace!  The same miracle working Jesus is passing by today…just declare your need for His help! Deb~

Oh, FYI:  Jesus healed Jairus daughter too!
