The Love of God

May 29, 2016 — Leave a comment

We sang a song in church Sunday that I learned as a child; “The Love of God.”  Gods love was taught and instilled in me as a child by my mother and her four sisters.  We sang together on many wonderful days at my grandparents.   It brought back such wonderful memories.

“For God so love the world He gave his one and only son, the whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16,NIV)

Attititude or Graditude?

Thanksgiving…it’s all about food and football right?  Having to spend time with family that drives you crazy!  Another day of cooking, cleaning and chasing kids…blah, blah, blah!

Holidays aren’t enjoyed by everyone.  Maybe you’ve lost a loved one, your children aren’t coming this year, you have no family to share the holiday with, money is tight and you just don’t feel like celebrating.

Scripture tells us “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:18, NIV).  Give thanks in everything, that can be challenging …we may not feel very grateful.  There are things that cause a negative effect on our lives that steal our joy and cause us to take our eyes off the Savior.

Sometimes I find myself going through the motions.  I’m spiritually and mentally prepared for whatever event we have for the day but my heart just isn’t in it.  My attitude stinks and I just can’t get myself out of the mood I’m in.  I’m not FOCUSED on Him!

“Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel.” (Psalms 22:3,NIV)

Love Heart, you may not feel you have anything to be “Thankful” for, but I challenge you to seek HIM.  Take your focus from you to others.

Volunteer at a shelter or hospital.   Invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers over for dinner…  Your probably not the only one alone this holiday.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.  His love endures forever.  (Psalm 136:1, NIV)

Life is what you make it, Reach out…change that attitude to gratitude. ~Deb

“It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'” (Romans 14:11, NIV)

Like A Sore Thumb!

April 27, 2014 — Leave a comment

photoI have a friend that some people might believe sticks out like a sore thumb.  He has long white hair that he wears in a short pony tail and has a long beard to match.

His superior’s grumble about it at work and others have been known to make snide remarks.

What they fail to see is the reason behind his appearance.

“Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected  him.  The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7, NIV)

During the months of November and December, Charles is Santa’s Helper.  He is Santa personified!  He works every night and weekend bringing the joy of Christmas to hundreds of children and their families.

Some people would say this is a silly ambition, but we see Charles’s heart!  His love for the Lord overflows as he ministers to these children.

I bet that several prayers are said over these little ones as they share their dreams with this man of God.   th (2)

The next time you see someone that “sticks out like a sore thumb” remember, God uses ALL kinds of people to minister.  Those that are old, the very young, those with down syndrome, the poor, rich, deaf, crippled and even Santa Clause.

“In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purpose and some for ignoble.  If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes , made holy useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.” (2 Timothy 2:20-22, NIV)

Love Heart, take your blinders off and see the work of God! ~Debra

The picture you see above is Charles and Gwen Fischer.  My friend and Co-Founder of Love Heart Ministries is married to Santa Clause!

Holy Ground

imageTonight I spent a wonderful evening with my Mom, Dad, sister, and Aunt.  Mom made her wonderful lima beans and cornbread.

As we sat around the table eating, reminiscing and catching up on the latest in each others lives, it never occurred to me that it was a Divine appointment.

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.” (Ephesians 1:17)

My Aunt has a huge decision to make and was searching for answers.  We spent the evening seeking God, recalling scripture and praying.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20, ESV)

I don’t know what her decision will be, but I do know that God was there with us as we sought His guidance.  We were on Holy Ground. ~Debra  image
