“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me

All the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

(Psalms 23, NIV)

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  He laid down His life for the sheep allowing us to walk in green pastures and beside the still waters as we have the knowledge that we will, as believers, spend eternity with Him.

“I am the good Shepherd.  The good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, NIV)

But Love Heart, there is more to this journey than just accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.  We must follow

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24, NIV)

If we want to be among the Good Shepherd’s sheep we must take up the cross, deny those things that cause us to wander, and follow Him.

It’s a daily choice…it’s a discipline…it’s walking in Christ strength and not our own.  ~Debra

Following the Leader

January 9, 2012 — Leave a comment

I was going to teach my Pre-School Choir a song…”I Will Make You Fisher’s of Men.” It had me searching scripture to share with my children where the disciples were called to service in God’s word.

As I read Matthew 4:18-25, I thought…it must have been so much easier back then.

When Jesus led, they followed. When he talked, they heard his voice.  When they saw how he worked with people, they followed by his example.

So, how are we supposed to follow Jesus today?  We can’t see, hear, or touch him.

We have to make a choice to accept Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives!

Love Heart…you can’t have your cake and eat it too! You can’t be of this world and His too.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  (Romans 12:2, NIV)

If you are a believer in Christ he has promised us a Counselor, the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit which transforms you from the inside out giving us the guidance and direction needed for obedience.

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26, NIV)

We discover God’s will for our lives through the Holy Spirit and he gives us the desire and strength to follow Him.

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice and follow the leader, Jesus Christ! ~Deb

Against the Wind

May 16, 2011 — Leave a comment

As believers we have a path that God wants us to follow.  When we deviate from that path, we are blown around like the wind, no path, just going were the wind takes us.

We end up getting our feathers ruffled just like this mother duck and her ducklings.  Wondering what the heck is going on?

Our actions don’t just affect us, you see!  We have a HUGE sphere of influence.  Seek Him in every decision.

God is faithful and if we follow Him, He will set us on the right path.  The winds will still come but you’ll be steady and strong!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  (Jeremiah 29:11) Deb~
