Bridal Falls

August 5, 2016 — Leave a comment

These trees are nestled in the middle of Bridal Falls in Canada.  Isn’t it just amazing?  Our God puts this master piece in front of us to view just because he loves us.

As I looked at the photo a story came to mind, “The Three Trees.”   It reminds us that God has a plan and if we place our trust in Him it will come out better than we could possible imagine! Deb~ Luke 2:1-7, Matthew 8:23-27 and Matthew 27:32-38

He Gave~

August 26, 2015 — Leave a comment

The other day I heard something on the radio that was really profound when you think about it.

The speaker was talking about a time when her world was turned upside down.  She said that when you are in crisis the scripture you have memorized will be what comes to your mind.  It makes sense.

When we are in crisis, those of us who know Jesus turn to Him through prayer and the reading of His Word, the Bible.  But when we’ve hidden His word in our hearts, we have something to immediately use.

How about this one?

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

As a casual reader we might rush over the word “gave,” but when we consider the extent of that giving, it takes our breath away.

Who of us as earthly parents could freely and willingly offer up our child, our only child, to die for some ungrateful, hateful, mean and evil person who hated him?  I’m thinking not many, if any, hands went up in answer to that question!

Today, will you take the time to specifically thank God for the greatest gift of all time, His only Son, Jesus?  Gwen~

In West Texas there’s a sure-fire way to tell when winter is over – the mesquite trees begin to bloom.  And, scissor tail birds begin to arrive.  Oh, it may still get a little chilly, but it won’t freeze again.

In life, there’s a sure-fire way to know that you will spend eternity in heaven – a relationship with Jesus.  You see, He paid the price…all you have to do is accept the gift.

For the unbeliever, Easter may have been just be a new dress and some colored eggs, but for those of us who are bought by His blood, it’s a wonderful celebration of eternal life!

You know, the ones closest to Him couldn’t understand His comments about living again, but on Easter morning, they got the picture!

Love Heart, can you understand?  Your eternal soul will live somewhere after you die, either in heaven with God or eternally separated from Him in a place so hideous it’s unimaginable.  Mark 9:47-48 says, “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where “‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.”’ Verse 48 is repeated from Isaiah 66:24.

Spring brings new life, and it is our prayer that today you will accept the sacrifice of Jesus for you, and begin your new life today.  Gwen~

Thanks for the Gift!

christmas presentLet me tell you about my favorite Christmas gift!  The unusual thing about this gift is that I neither gave nor received it.  Here’s the story.

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking with a dear friend of mine who lives nearly 400 miles away about the serious and ongoing struggles of my friends who live here in Abilene.  If you read the post on November 6th titled “He’s Still There,” then you know something of their continuous struggles.

Last week, a check came to me in the mail.  It was a large amount of money and there was no note and no instructions, socheckbookcheckbookcheckbookcheckbook I gave my friend a call.

I asked if the money was for my mission efforts or to support Love Heart Ministries or what he had in mind.  Much to my surprise, he said that he has not be able to quit thinking of the peril of the friends I told him about, and that I could use the money any way I saw fit.

I cashed the check and took the money to my friends – all of it.  Oh, Love Heart, I wish you could have witnessed that event!  To say that they were speechless is an understatement.  We just prayed together and thanked God for His provision.

Now, just think about this for a minute.  My friends could never have imagined in a thousand years that their needs would be met by someone they had never heard of!  My gift was the priviledge of watching God work as only He can!

psalm 121 1-2Today, your back may be against the wall and you can’t see where your help will come from.  Remember these words from Psalm 121:1-2.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Don’t give up. Your help will come from the Lord!  Gwen~

p.s.  Thank you, my friend, for listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit!

imageThis year, there was a lot of discussion about the gift giving this Christmas.  Some wanted to draw names, while the rest of us want to keep with tradition.

It has always been our tradition to give a gift with meaning and that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank.

Our heavenly Father gave us a gift that was both practical and necessary.  One with meaning!

“For God so love the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

He arrived as a tiny baby and was exactly what the world needed.  And yet most of us fail to unwrap the gift.

baby Jesus“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6,NIV)

Open your bible and unwrap the gift of Christ. You’ll discover it’s was designed just for you!~Debra  image
