I’ve Got a Secret~

With the world spinning by at an incredible pace, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind. With the television and magazines telling you that you must have the latest and greatest of everything to be happy, you can easily fall into a trap spawned from the depths of hell.

contentmentHappiness is fleeting and depends mostly on the circumstances de jour. Contentment, on the other hand, is abiding. Look at our brother, Paul. Now that’s a life filled with highs and lows.

Paul experienced the highest of highs, as a well-respected Roman citizen, and the lowest of lows, imprisoned as a common criminal. Yet, in Philippians 4:11-14, he lets us in on the secret.

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be Philippians_4_12_Imagecontent whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret (my emphasis added) of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

What is the secret? Simply Jesus. Knowing Him and knowing who you are in Him is the secret to life contentment! As we celebrate His birthday, take some time to explore where you find yourself on the scale of contented living.  Gwen~

Key Mystery

th (15) I love old keys.  They make me think of grand old houses, mysterious trunks with wonderful treasured memories tucked away for future generations to find or perhaps they provided freedom to gang of robbers.

They also remind me of who holds the key to my happiness, my life, my future.  Jesus Christ!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20, ESV)

Father God, please guide my every thought, every move, every desire. May they be pleasing to You.  I want to share with the world; who holds the keys to my heart. ~Debra

 

 

A co-worker and I were talking this morning about how young ladies are brought up in our present time.

They are taught that there is nothing they can’t do, be or achieve!  Their satisfaction in their life is centered on self!  

This kind of mentality leads to bad choices and ultimately more dissatisfaction. Once they have what they thought would bring happiness; there’s emptiness inside.

Why?  Things don’t bring you happiness.  It’s not just physical or emotional; it’s spiritual!

Stop searching for that thing that will bring you happiness and turn to the person that holds the key. Spiritual emptiness can only be filled by Jesus Christ!

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god.”  We are all at risk!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord, (Romans 6:23, NIV).

The solution lies within the scripture…“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10, NIV)
It’s the condition of the heart that brings happiness and fulfillment! ~Debra

My daughter-in-law and I were out for our exercise walking the 3 mile trail at one of our local parks.  I love our time spent together as we walk, talk, and share the happenings of the day.  We gals can get pretty riled up while talking so it makes for great exercise. 

One thing lead to another and I began to notice the signs along the path. 

 Yield, walk, stop, speed limit, wrong way! These are worldly signs meant for our direction and safety. Buuuttt, what if I choose NOT to obey them?  There will be consequences!  Right? 

Then why is it that we get upset when there are consquences to our actions with God.  Through God’s word we receive directions that are meant for our safety and happiness! 

God gives us a free will.  WE come to a crossroads in our life when we have to choose who’s direction we are going to follow!  The worlds…or God’s!                 “This is what the Lord says—Your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.”  (Isaiah 48:17)       

I challenge you to search God’s word and seek His direction for your life!  Deb~
