Archives For heart

August 17, 2017 — Leave a comment

My husband and I have been watching some of the old Billy Graham ministry programs.  Wow!  He preaches straight from the heart and lead by the Spirit.  No holding back from this man.

As I watched the telecast, one thing stood out for me.  The people who had made a decision for Christ were RUNNING to the altar.  When is the last time you’ve seen or felt that kind of Passion for anything?  Especially the Lord!

Thesaurus defines Passion as: fervor, obsession, excitement, enthusiasm, zeal, delight!

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind with all your strength!” (Deuteronomy 6:5) Deb~

When your tempted to judge someone by how they look…ask yourself…What does God see?

“Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1Samuel 16:7, NIV)

“You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God know your hearts.  What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.”  (Luke 16:15, NIV)

Practice makes perfect…the more that I practice the better I’ll be.  ~Deb

What Not to Wear!

July 21, 2015 — Leave a comment

“I read the other day if you dress lovely, you attract love and if you dress sexy you will attract sex,” Are you dressing attractively or to attract?  What message are you sending to others and to the young ladies around you that you influence?

My biggest hope and prayer is that I express to my grandgirls they don’t have to look like what the world believes to be beautiful.  The world looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”(Psalms 51:10, NIV)

Dressing modestly doesn’t mean frumpy.  WE are to be above reproach.

“Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.” (1 Corinthians 8:9, NIV)

“Do you no know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore, honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV)

We want to ask ourselves a few questions:

  • Is what’s on the outside really what’s on the inside?
  • Why is modesty important (realize the male perspective on flash or revealing clothing)?
  • As believers, where do we stand?

You may be wondering why I’m discuss “What Not to Wear”, when as Christian’s we face far more pressing issues.   Love Heart, this is meant to encourage you to examine this issue in the light of God’s word-prayerfully.  Put aside all bias and ask yourself…have I followed this world without any conviction?

Examining myself and believing that God would have me to be “set apart”!  ~Debra

imageTuesday morning, I got in my car and notice that my hubby had filled it with gas for me.  I decided to give him a call and thank him.

This is the sum of our conversation:  Me: Hey, babe!  Thanks for putting gas in my car!  Him: I DID PUT GAS IN YOUR CAR.  Me: I know and I was calling to thank you!  Him: Oh, I thought you were being sarcastic!”

What just happened here?  I called to thank him, why would he be so defensive and think I was being scarcastic?

Could it be that I take him for granted?  Could it be that I’ve been sarcastic way to many times?  Could it be that I treat others better than my own husband?

I believe it time for a change! ~Debraimage

“God, create a pure heart in me, and renew a right attitude within me.” (Psalm 51:10, NSV)

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. …” (Psalm19:45

Happy Anniversay, my love!

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  She had a sister called Mary, who sat  at at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.”  (Luke 10:38-39, NIV)

This is a tale of two sisters and a choice…

Martha has opened her home to Jesus and the disciples.  Being a woman, she wanted everything perfect.

House cleaned, get out the good dishes…what to cook?!?!  I’m sure that Martha was barking out orders right and left.  This was Jesus after all!

WHERE was Mary?  She should be helping.

Martha was searching everywhere! As she rounds the corner her anger boils as she sees her lazy sibling sitting at the feet of Jesus.

Martha was having none of this.  She walks up to Jesus and demands that Mary come and help her.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. ” (Luke 10:38-42, NIV)

Decisions…we have to make them everyday.

I have a hunger and a calling to know and love God more.  What about you?  Let’s look for the heart-to-heart intimacy that Mary longed for!

I must confess…I’m a Martha but I’m working on being more like Mary.  ~Debra
