Have you ever heard the song that says “How deep the Father’s love for us?” It’s a great song. But, there are some of us who balk at the love of a father, simply confused by our own life experiences.
It seems that our relationship with our earthly father has a lot of influence on how we feel about the attributes of our Heavenly Father.
Through a set of really bad circumstances, my father basically ignored me. Only after I moved away from home did we have any kind of interaction. So, what does that leave me thinking about my Heavenly Father?
Maybe that He is out there but totally not interested in me and my life. Or, maybe he’s busy and doesn’t have time for me. After all, he’s got the whole planet to think about!
Listen to this. Ephesians 3:17b-19 says, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
The Father sent His only Son for us. Yes, we know Jesus came to die so we could live, but sometimes the impact of that just rolls over us. But in this scripture Paul was doing his best to let us in on the vastness and the depth of a love we can’t imagine.
Love Heart, if your relationship was is not good with your earthly father, don’t discount the magnitude of the love your Heavenly Father has for you. He won’t give you love and then take it back. He won’t make you perform to receive His love, and you won’t have to beg for His attention. His eyes are always on you. Job 34:21 gives us comfort. “His eyes are on the ways of men; he sees their every step.”
