Has your world ever been turned so upside down that all you could do was cry out to God?  Mine has-many times. Honestly, I just don’t know what I would have done if I couldn’t have called on Him.  I’ve been so upset that I couldn’t even put words to my prayer…all I could do was call out His Holy Name!  And, I knew He was the only one Who could help.

                  Love Heart, if you don’t have an intimate relationship with Jesus, today might be the day for you to start one.  He’s waiting!  He’s not somewhere way out in the universe and untouchable.  He’s got His full attention turned toward you, always…and He’s waiting!  In John 14:6 Jesus Himself says, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  He is faithful.  You will not be disappointed! “Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says…I’ll try again tomorrow.” ~Mary Ann Radmacher.

God’s word is full of people that showed great courage.  Here are some words to live by as you face those everyday challenges.     

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NIV)

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalms 27:14, NIV)

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you, In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalms 56:3-4, NIV)

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”  (Psalms 31:24, NIV)

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who give me strength.” (Philippians 4:12-13, NIV)

“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13, NIV)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”  (2 Timothy 1:7, NIV)

A couple of years ago, I met a woman for the first time and we talked for a bit about her life.  By her own admission, at 16 she had rebelled against what she had been taught by her pastor father.  At 17, she found herself unwed and pregnant.  Wow.  Too much life packed into too few years.  I’m sure when she was in the midst of all this, she probably felt like life was over.

Not so.  When we met, she was heading up a diaper drive for those who, once like herself, found themselves in a difficult situation and in need.  She spoke of her various ministries and what all God had done in her life and how He’s blessed her.  Life today is very different from what it once was for her.

Hebrews 6:17-19 (NIV) says, “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

               Love Heart, hope is the anchor for our soul.  Be encouraged!  It is firm and secure.  If today you find yourself waaay in over your head and wondering if life will ever be different, take heart. Lean on God.  Submit yourself fully to His plans and purpose for your life.   Get onboard with what He has for you.  He won’t disappoint you.

Just Ask!

???????????????A few months ago I took a nasty fall. I was standing one minute and the next thing I knew, I was sitting straight down on the sidewalk with the back of my head banged on a concrete pole. In a flash, I had lost my footing.

As I was falling, in that span of maybe 2 seconds, all I had time to think was, “Please, God!” He knew the rest.

In that moment in time, He was the only One who could help me. There was no one else to catch me. He was my Protector and my Deliverer. He was my Strength and my Shield.

He knew that I was asking Him to keep me from being hurt badly because I was scheduled for an important trip which was only two weeks away.

With a severe head contusion and a tailbone that was broken completely off, travel looked iffy at best. My church family and friends began to pray. The results were God-sized!

During the flight I had to sit on a pillow, but after I arrived, I was fine. The work God had set before me was accomplished as He had planned and I came home.

Two things to notice here: 1.There was a time in my life when other words would have been said, sovereignand 2. The devil cannot thwart the plans of God. Isaiah 14:27 says, “For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?”

Isn’t it wonderful that our God is Lord of All? Gwen~

Do you try to “do it on your own?”  Are you somebody that says you don’t need anyone else?  If you are, it’s probably because you have been incredibly hurt by someone in your past.

 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says this.  “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:  If one falls down, his friend can help him up, but pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!

The past and all its hurts can have a strangle-hold on us.  The PAST is not a person…it’s a period in time.  Often people talk about “their past” when trying to disqualify themselves from something.  They might say something like, “If you only knew about my past.  I (fill in the blank).”

God does know about your past…and your present…and your future.  And, He’s the only one that matters.  When you ask Him to forgive your sins He does, and forgets them. Your enemy, the devil, is the one who is reminding of your failures.  Don’t listen to him!  He is already defeated.  Don’t allow him any smidge of victory in your life.  Fix your eyes on Jesus!  Gwen~
