Best Friends…

August 3, 2016 — Leave a comment

Do you know why God made you and what your purpose is?  Your answers probably require some kind of action from you.

We think that in order to be close to God we must be doing something for him; busy work…singing in the choir, teaching a Sunday school class, leading or volunteering in our churches or communities.

And God appreciates those things, but what He really wants..”is a relationship with you!”  Time spent between just you and Him?

“I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship…” (Philippians 3:10, NIV)

“After he had dismissed them he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.  When evening came, he was there alone…” (Matthew 14:23, NIV)

Relationships take commitment.  It has to be a priority and here are a couple of ideas that work for me.

Quiet Time – Time I spend in the Word, imperative!

Prayer Walking – I learned this from a dear friend, Pat Dulude.  She rises early in the morning and just walks and talks with the Lord.  I like this because I accomplish three things: exercise, prayer and fellowship.  You choose the time that works for you.

I associate my time with the Lord like the time I spend with my best friend.  We laugh, we cry, we find solutions, we bear our very souls.  And how do you feel after talking with that friend you trust.  I feel renewed, ready to take on the world.

That’s how it is with Christ.  He wants to be your best friend and the best thing about that…He has all the RIGHT ANSWERS!!  ~Debra

I Wanna Sing, Sing, Sing

November 27, 2015 — Leave a comment

Do you ever have days when you just want to shout?  I’m talking praises and thanksgiving.

I love to sing…it’s like offering up a prayer.  It touches our emotions and allows us to lift up our voices to Christ.

I know that some of you are saying…I can’t sing.  Guess what?  He doesn’t care.

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.  Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Know that the LORD is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”  (Psalms 100:1-5, NIV)

 Read that again

I love the children’s song…

I wanna sing, sing, sing

I wanna shout, shout, shout,

I wanna sing, I wanna shout, praise the LORD

When Heaven’s gates are opened wide, I’ll be sittin by Jesus side,

I wanna sing, I wanna shout praise the LORD.

When you think about it; we have a lot to sing about.  We are not promised smooth sailing as a *believer” but we are promised that He is preparing a place of us and is coming back for us.

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”  (John14:3, NIV)

That’s something to be “Thankful” for and sing about!! ~Deb

Rooted

I accepted Christ as a child and knew that my decision was lasting but didn’t know where to turn next.  I didn’t receive good direction and teaching.

Therefore my roots weren’t strong and deep to withstand challenges.

It reminds me of the parable of the Sower from Matthew 13:5-6… “A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some feel on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.”

Love Heart, challenges and temptations will come your way.  Stand strong in the Lord and don’t give an inch or Satan will take a mile.

Stay rooted in God’s Word, be careful the company you keep and walk away from dangerous situation…just walk away! ~Deb

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”    (I Corinthians 10:13, NIV)

THANK YOU…

For every dilemma, every anxiety, every attraction, every conflict, every sin in my life, there is a deliverer~Jesus Christ!

Thank You, Lord, for your sacrifice, your love, your forgiveness, your mercy, your grace.  The way you reach down and pull me up when I’m not focused.

I ask for forgiveness and your guidance to stay sure-footed on the Rock of my Salvation and not fall into the pit of the world and all its enticements.  Help me to be God centered, not me centered.
Let me give you total control of my life! ~Deb

Quality Stone?

November 7, 2014 — Leave a comment

1 Kings 5:16-17, tells us of the building of the temples foundation.  The stones were huge and perfectly rectangle in shape.  Scripture says the stones were moved to the temple in a quiet manner out of respect for the Holy site.  The foundation was constructed of “quality stone.”

If your foundation isn’t strong everything else will fall beneath it.  “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (ICorinthians 3:11, NIV)

The need for a quality foundation is a lesson we must all take to heart.  What types of materials are we using?  Are we rebelling against God which causes a weak foundation or are we building on the integrity and stability of Christ Jesus?  “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain come down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it do not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25, NIV)

Hearing, knowing and doing…If we aren’t doing then we aren’t building on the right foundation.  “But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against the house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:26-2,NIV)

Listen to the voice of authority, Christ Jesus and build that firm foundation!  Deb~
