The Glad Game

August 17, 2016 — Leave a comment

imageI grew up watching Disney movies.  I still love the old ones like Pollyanna!  The point of the story is a young lady, who’s parents both die, comes to live with a RICH aunt.  One of those that owns the town.

Some of the people of the town want to hold a bazaar to raise money for the local orphanage.  Dear Auntie refuses to allow it!!!

The organizers are at a loss and all they can do is grumble and complain.  Pollyanna suggest they play the “glad game!” Think of something to be glad about.

“The Joy of the Lord is your strength; my heart trust in him, and he helps me.  My heart leaps for joy, and my song I praise him.”  Psalm 28:7  image

The devil wants to steal your joy!  Complaining weakens us!

Don’t just look at your problems, focus on your blessings.  Being thankful brings you into a joyful spirit. ~Debra

Intense

imageGod’s timing is always perfect.  Scripture has shown us that time and time again.

Abraham and Sarah had to wait many years for the fulfillment of God’s promise, a son. Abraham was a 100 years old and Sarah 90 at the birth of their son, Isaac.  Can’t you just imagine the intense joy at the birth of this child?

“NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of things (we) hope for, being the proof of things (we) do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses).” (Hebrews 11:1, AMP)

Love Heart, God has a plan for your life.  Continue to seek His guidance and wait for His timing and you too will experience intense joy! ~ Debra  image

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11,NIV)

“Baskets of Fun”

November 27, 2013 — Leave a comment

th (1)Our Sunday School class is always doing something fun and interesting.  For our Christmas party, we always have a project to support.

This year we are supporting one of our favorite nurses as she works in the skilled Nursing Unit at our local Hospital   Most of these patients are there for a month or more and have no family to bring them the extras they might need.

We are going to put together “Baskets of Fun!”  We will put together baskets with simple items to meet their needs and give them some encouragement; lip balm, lotion, comb/brush, deck of cards, crossword or word puzzles, blank cards, to name a few.

John 13:34-35  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We try and carry this throughout the year, but Christmas is especially hard on those spending it in the hospital.

Will you join our class in spreading the love of Christ to those spending this Holiday season in the hospital or alone?  th (2)Focus on other and be Thankful! ~Debra

Worry Wart!

th (8)Worry…in German means, “to strangle,” in Greek to “divide the mind.”  Don’t let Satan get a foothold, choose joy and leave worry behind!

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV) ~Debra
