Archives For judge

When your tempted to judge someone by how they look…ask yourself…What does God see?

“Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1Samuel 16:7, NIV)

“You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God know your hearts.  What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.”  (Luke 16:15, NIV)

I come in contact with people every day that do not believe the way I do.  People who think I’m foolish for praying on a daily basis.

In Luke 18, it tell us about a judge who “neither feared God nor cared what people thought.”  There was also a widow that came to him daily to receive justice for a wrong committed against her.

The judge refused her for a long time, but finally gave in because of her relentlessness for justice.  She wouldn’t give up until her plea was answered. (Luke 18: 2-5)

imageHow may prayers have gone unanswered because we’ve given up on our petition?  God’s timing is everything.

Some people may think that this woman was bodacious in her request, but what if she had given up.  What if she hadn’t “prayed through”.  She would have never known God’s faithfulness. image

Blue Ribbon

September 30, 2011 — Leave a comment

I went to a luncheon this week and the speaker was Mamie McCullough.

She shared a story with us of a time she and her children were spending a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Several of the neighborhood children came over so she suggested they make mud pies ( 2 parts dirt, 1 part water) and decorate them.  She would judge them and award ribbons.

The children thought this was a fine idea.  They went scrambling to make their pies while she went to find the ribbons.

Time came for the judging.  The first pie was made by her oldest.  It was beeeauuutiful.  He  was awarded a blue ribbon.  Her middle child, beeauuutiful, awarded a blue ribbon.  Her third child, you guessed it, beeauuutiful, awarded a blue ribbon.

The neighborhood children started screaming foul.  You gave all the blue ribbons to your children.  She replies,  If you want a blue ribbon let your mother be the judge!

Her next words made me stop and think!  “If my child can’t be first place in my own yard, something is wrong!!

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14, NIV)

“And he took the children in his arms, put his hand on them and blessed them.” (Mark 10:16, NIV)

Love Heart, we must support and encourage our own children.  They deserve our unconditional love! Deb~
