Archives For King David

Listen to what King David had to say in his song we find in Psalm 19:12-14.  “Who can discern his errors?  Forgive my hidden faults.  Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.  Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.  May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

What do you think he’s thinking here?  It seems to me that he’s making sure that he’s got it all the bases covered.  He knows that he doesn’t even recognize some of his sins so he’s asking for those hidden faults to be forgiven.  Next he asks that he won’t succumb to willful sins either.  Then he finishes up by saying that he wants his sole focus to be on the Lord and acknowledges just who the Lord is to him…his Rock and Redeemer.

If you know about King David, you know that there was a time in his life that he lost his focus in a big way, and he paid dearly for it.  But his God never turned His back on him.  And you know what? No matter how badly you’ve lost your way, God has not turned his back on you either.  He has promised in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Love Heart, don’t lose your way.  Get back on the path today!  Gwen~

If you want a real blessing, read the book of Psalms!  Many of them are written by King David as he pours out his heart before his God.  Sometimes he’s overwhelmed with sadness and sorrow.  Other times he is overjoyed with love for his Creator.

Doesn’t that sound a lot like you?  Some days it’s all you can do to put one foot in front of the other while other days the joy of the Lord consumes you and you just have to sing!  You know what?  You’re not the only one whose been there.

Take comfort in knowing that you’re not the only one whose made serious mistakes.  You’re not the only one covered in despair.  You’re not the only one whose at the end of your rope.

And you’re not the only one who is so grateful for mercy and grace that all you can do is sing!  Thanks be to God, our Strength and our Redeemer!  Gwen~
