I was very concerned and wondered what in the world. After several minutes she was able to talk and explained a small bug had gone down her throat.
That someone…her husband! I was so surprised at his reaction I just stared, dumbfounded. I looked back to her and saw her giving him the look of death! Between squeals of laughter…he stated: “‘I’ve told you a hundred times to keep your mouth shut!!”
Now her husband was teasing of course, but how many times have you wished you could take something back you’ve said? Some thing you really should have thought through. The book of James talks about this very thing!
“Like-wise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boast. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”(James 3:5-6, NIV)
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.” (James 3:9-10, NIV)
Love Heart, I want to challenge you to meditate on James 3 and start holding your tongue! Deb
