Archives For life

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me

All the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

(Psalms 23, NIV)

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  He laid down His life for the sheep allowing us to walk in green pastures and beside the still waters as we have the knowledge that we will, as believers, spend eternity with Him.

“I am the good Shepherd.  The good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, NIV)

But Love Heart, there is more to this journey than just accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.  We must follow

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24, NIV)

If we want to be among the Good Shepherd’s sheep we must take up the cross, deny those things that cause us to wander, and follow Him.

It’s a daily choice…it’s a discipline…it’s walking in Christ strength and not our own.  ~Debra

Which Path?

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”  (Matthew 7:13, NIV)

Love Heart, It easy to live in the flesh!  The hard part is learning and growing in your relationship with the Lord, but soooo worth it!

New Year, New You!~Debra

Remember when automobile makers told you their car could go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds?  Well, life is pretty much the same.

One minute you’re ten and thinking you’ll live forever, and the next thing you know, you’re looking for something to cover the gray and fill in the wrinkles!  You’re suddenly in the “autumn” of your life and can’t for the life of you remember spring or summer!  Just vague remembrances of days gone by.

Is sixty really the new 30?  Does it really matter?

I can remember when my Dad retired from his job when he was around 60 years old.  He was convinced that he wouldn’t live 10 more years.  Bless his heart, he got up, ate breakfast, plopped in front of the TV and sat until Mom called him for lunch.  After lunch, he resumed his position waiting for dinner.  The routine was pretty much the same day in and day out.  He went to be with Jesus at almost 91. What a waste of time!

Listen to the Word of the Lord.  “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16 (NIV).  I guess the bottom line is “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.”  God has you alive for a reason. Remember that “plan” we’ve talked about?  Don’t waste the gift.

Wonder what Dad would have done if he had know he had 30 more years to spend? Gwen~

Curve Ball

October 29, 2014 — Leave a comment

You’re in the bottom of the 9th, 3-2 is the count. Bases loaded.  Score tied!   You’re thinking as you ready for the pitch.  What’s she going to throw next?  Fast ball, screw ball or curve?  Fast ball, that’s it, that’s it!   I’m ready, as you tap home plate and wind up for the pitch.   Pitcher winds up….swoosh…curve ball!  The umpire signals “YOOOUUR OUT!”

Now, I understand that life is a little more serious than baseball, but has life ever thrown you a curve?  Something you just weren’t expecting?

When you need to pray but don’t know how?  Your heart is heavy but the words just won’t come.

Cry out to Jesus, he knows what to say!  Romans 8:26 tell us …”the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. “

The Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans!  That’s powerful!  Remember that the next time you’re at a loss.  When you just don’t know which way to turn!  Cry out to Jesus …Deb~

I Come to the Garden

October 19, 2014 — Leave a comment

Where did our Savior go when troubled.  Where did He go for strength, courage, comfort, and peace.  To the Father!  When Christ was faced with the supreme sacrifice, His life, He spent hours in prayer seeking the fathers will.

“I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses

and the voice I hear falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tell me I am His own,

And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever know.”

Who better to intercede for us than the one who has walked in our shoes!

Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy, Lord have Mercy on Us!  ~Deb
