Suit Up!

September 7, 2017 — Leave a comment

Do you know any “Prayer Warriors?”  A warrior fights against an enemy. In this case it’s you know who!  And because it’s a spiritual matter instead of a physical battle, the warrior’s weaponry is prayer.
Philippians 6:11-12, NIV states…

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Satan is not happy when we are doing God’s will and he will do everything within his power to stop us.

The rest of Philippians 6: 13:17 tells us just how to suit up. “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with readiness that come from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Sprit, which is the word of God.”

God’s promise to the faithful!…Psalms 91 and 121.

We serve a faithful God who sees the beginning and the end.  Let’s join hands and pray together as warriors for His kingdom.  Deb~

Whispers

March 9, 2017 — Leave a comment

When my children were growing up my husband and I helped in the youth department at our church.

My son introduced me to a young man that was at church visiting and they seemed to have hit it off.

I wasn’t impressed.  This young man was outside of the box…long, saggin shorts, chains hanging from his pockets, spiked hair, and pierced ears.  I had grown up in a VERY conservation household.

I was going to keep an eye on this one especially if he was going to hang around my son.

In doing so; I learned a lot about this young man.  His parents were divorced and it wasn’t pretty.  They fought constantly and he was caught in the middle.  They expected him to choose and be loyal to one or the other.

After several months of being with this young man we became very good friends.  The Lord just opened my heart for him and I was able to listen while he expressed his heart.

One day he was telling me how his mother was bad mouthing his father.  He seemed so troubled.  I could see that he was wrestling with something.

I looked at him and said…you know all the things your mother is saying about your father are true, but he is still your father and you wish your mother wouldn’t talk like that about him. He looked up into my eyes with sorrow and we prayed together.

Months later we had an exercise in our group.  A person was put into the middle of a circle and those surrounding him were to tell what that person meant to them.

You guessed it…I was put in the circle.  When it came to this young man…he said; she hears my “Whispers!”

Love Heart, we serve a wonderful, mighty God; who gives us the ability to serve others.

What I would have missed if I had kept my distance from the young man because he didn’t fit MY expectations.  If God hadn’t prevailed upon me to just to listen and support.

Alan and I are still friends today.  He is now married with children of his own.  I will hear a knock at my door …and there he is.  What a blessing! ~Debra

I’m Hungry…

October 1, 2016 — Leave a comment

Hunger…a craving or urgent need for….

Are you a person after God’s heart? Are you curious about what makes Him tick?  How do you find the answers?

A hunger for God doesn’t just come to us one day.  It must be cultivated.  You begin with your Bible reading…that’s were we listen and God speaks.

“Blessed is the man who doesn’t not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields it’s fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.”  (Psalms 1:1-3, NIV)

Another aspect is prayer.  If reading scripture just doesn’t do it for you.  Ask the Lord to make scripture come alive and be at work in your life.

“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.  Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. (Psalms 116:1-2, NIV)

Slow down and think about what you’ve read.  What you’ve uncovered and how it applies to your life.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8, NIV)

Love Heart, you must keep at it.  Your hunger might not surface right away.  You’re working on a life change not a quick fix.

Keep filling yourself with the God’s word, prayer and reflection.  It will bring about transformation. ~ Debra
