Love, Love, Love~

There are all kinds of love.  You can love your husband, your child, your mother, your best friend, your new hairdo, even your new shoes (and what about that matching handbag)!

But take a look at this kind of love.  Galatians 5:14-15 (NKJV) says, “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!”

Many of us could quote the first half of that verse easily, but what about the rest of it?

Bite and devour one another?  Now before you exclude yourself from such an “unChristian like” thing let’s look a little closer. We make unkind remarks all the time about people whose company we don’t particularly enjoy.  I’m thinking that’s a bite.

Then we get the dirt on someone and simply can’t wait to share it so everybody will know the details.  Swallow hard…I think we’ve just devoured! Shame on us!

Warning!  We’ve read the word of God and know it, so now we’re responsible for it.  We can no longer say we didn’t know.  Ouch!

Well, there’s an old saying here in Texas and it goes like this: “What goes around, comes around.”  Can you believe it’s scriptural?!  Love Heart, get a grip on that tongue lest its evil comes around on you.  Gwen~

WHO TOUCHED ME?!

August 1, 2016 — Leave a comment

Have you ever been in a crowd that is toe to toe, shoulder to shoulder?  Then someone ask…WHO TOUCHED ME?  Really?

A man named Jairus came to Jesus for help because his daughter was dying.  On his way to help his daughter a crowd welcomed Him and almost crushed Him.

There was a woman that had been sick for a very long time and no one was able to help her.  She came up behind Jesus  and know if she could just and touch the  edge of his garment, she would be healed!  She just had to reach out!  Scripture tell us that she was instantly healed!

Then came the question??  “Who touched me?” “Jesus knew that someone had touched him and said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

Peter was amazed at such a question with all the people that were pressing in, but the woman being afraid came forward and fell at His feet admitting it was her.  She told all the people how she had touched his garment and was instantly heal “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in Peace.”

Lessons we can learn from this account in God’s word!    Luke 8:43-56, NIV.

  • We never really know who is standing in a crowd.  Someone who is desperate…looking for a friendly face.
  • We never fully appreciate the power of God until we see it!
  • We don’t always perceive what God perceives!

This woman left that day without the problem she came with!  Christ had given her Peace!  Are you looking for peace!  The same miracle working Jesus is passing by today…just declare your need for His help! Deb~

Oh, FYI:  Jesus healed Jairus daughter too!

The Love of God

We sang a song in church Sunday that I learned as a child; “The Love of God.”  Gods love was taught and instilled in me as a child by my mother and her four sisters.  We sang together on many wonderful days at my grandparents.   It brought back such wonderful memories.

“For God so love the world He gave his one and only son, the whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16,NIV)

The words to this song say it all! ~Debra

Second Chances

May 21, 2016 — Leave a comment

I was watching a movie the other night about a young man who had been called into the ministry.  He ran from his calling and became a very rich investment banker.  Not a nice one I might add…

He had also left a young woman who loved him very much at the bus station expecting him to return.

Then story takes a twist…After 15 years he receives an invitation to come hear her speak at a church in a small town near by.  He decides to go.  As he’s racing down the road in flashy new sports car, it breaks down and who comes to his rescue but…an Angel.

This Angel announces that he is being given a Second Chance.  He is transported into the life he didn’t choose.  He’ married, has two girls, and is the Preacher of a small church.

You can imagine the ciaos.  He struggles with resentment, anger, and bitterness.  After a time, He begins to see the love of those around him.  Prayers being lifted on his behalf…the love his wife and girls have for him.

One night he is called to minister to a dying man.  This man is not a believer and very old.  He shares with him the parable of the workers in the vineyard from Matthew 20:1-16.

He wanted him to realize that it’s never too late!  No matter when you decide to accept the Lord, our reward is the same, eternal salvation.

God’s mercy and grace is His to give as He sees fit.

The parable from Matthew indicates that several believers weren’t happy

Love Heart, celebrate God’s grace and mercy regardless of when a person come into His saving Grace.  It is never to late to serve and it’s never to late to accept Chris as your personal Savior.

CAUTION:  Scripture warns, that we have no promise of tomorrow!

Take that second chance to serve the Lord and rejoice when someone comes to serve Him, no matter how late they arrive.  ~Deb
