The Love of God

May 29, 2016 — Leave a comment

We sang a song in church Sunday that I learned as a child; “The Love of God.”  Gods love was taught and instilled in me as a child by my mother and her four sisters.  We sang together on many wonderful days at my grandparents.   It brought back such wonderful memories.

“For God so love the world He gave his one and only son, the whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16,NIV)

The words to this song say it all! ~Debra

Are you stuck in the past? Thinking to yourself… coulda, woulda, shoulda?  Don’t get stuck in the same ole rut of bringing up things you want to forget! What about your dreams?

God didn’t get stuck with you, He chose you!  “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last.” (John 15:16, NIV
God can use you if you are able to let go of the past.  He wants you to move forward!  Take a hold of those dreams you once had.

Satan is the accuser of the brethren…he would love for you to stay right where you are for the rest of your life.  He would like nothing more than to continue to bring up images from past!  Abortion, abuse, rape, idolatry, drugs, pornography!  Memories you replay in your mind!

Empty it out! Repentance is the closure you need from your past!  Then… stop remembering what God has forgotten and allow Him to use you!

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14, NIV)

Why not start today?!  It’s not about the clock, it’s about consistency.  “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all thing are possible with God.”(Mark10:27, NIV)

Feed what you want to live and starve what you want to die!  Start today by doing one thing…just one, to stretch your growth.  Listen to some inspirational cd’s, post some scripture around to memorize, add some Christian music to your collection.  And most important, read God’s word daily.

“Forget what happened long ago!  Don’t think about the past.  I am creating something new.  There it is! Do you see it?  I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

God has made His choice…what about you??  Deb

Hateful or Grateful?

September 20, 2014 — Leave a comment

What is the condition of your heart?  No, not the physical aspects of it, but the deep things that only you know about.  Is it hateful or grateful?

You know, it’s easy to harbor bitterness and hurt.  After all, you were wronged!  But, where does that get you?  Sick…that’s where.  And, chances are pretty good that whoever offended you either doesn’t have a clue that they did, or by now they’ve forgotten about it.  But you…you’re still stewing about it.

Every time you think about the offending party, you get mad all over again.  In your mind you replay the event with perfect clarity.  Your blood pressure rises with your heart rate.  Where exactly does that get you? The answer – nowhere – and sick.  Now, is the problem something that really needs to be addressed, or just something that ticked you off?  If it’s worthy of clearing the air, do that.  Go to whomever has offended you and talk with them about the matter.  If, by chance, they are no longer alive, you must let it go.

If it’s just a matter of you being overly sensitive and easily offended, take a look at yourself and let it go. And forget about it!  Bad memories are only as powerful as you let them be.

I know, I know.  You were wronged!  Yes, I really know, because I was wronged too.  And for way too many years I let the hurt have the upper hand.  It still rears its ugly head on occasion, but for the most part, those memories don’t hold their power over me.  It’s liberating, and I’m grateful to God that He has helped me get passed it.  Love Heart, let it go. Gwen~
