Broken Heart??

July 9, 2014 — Leave a comment

At lunch I was listening to a commentary on the radio.  The man was recalling the death of his parents.

His mother’s death was a sweet time together. No words, there wasn’t a need for any.  She had loved him and been a wonderful uplifting example. He did however pray a blessing over her and thanked her for all she had done for him.

His father’s passing wasn’t a time of love and refection but the son still prayed a blessing over his father to which his father cursed him.

The man reflected on how this had hurt him but was reminded by the Holy Spirit even though his earthly father hadn’t blessed him but made him feel as if he’d come into the world as a negative…He still had his Heavenly Father!

You may have not had the best relationship with your earthly father but that doesn’t define who you are!  Remember if you are a believer, you are a child of the King.  And if you aren’t, you can change that!

The Love of God

I heard a song the other day that I learned as a child; “The Love of God.”  Gods love was taught and instilled in me as a child by my mother and her 4 sisters as we would sing together on those wonderful days at my grandparents.   It brought back such wonderful memories.

“For God so love the world He gave his one and only son, the whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16,NIV)

Mary

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.  The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.  You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,  and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1:26,NIV)

Shirley and Marcy

With school starting today in Abilene, Texas I felt this little story was appropriate.  Enjoy!

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.  He didn’t want his mother to walk with him.
She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe.
So she had an idea of how to handle it.
She asked a neighbour if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance,  So he probably wouldn’t notice her.  She said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbour and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbour girl he knew.
She did this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs,
Timmy ‘s little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week.  Finally she said to Timmy,
‘Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?’  Timmy nonchalantly replied, ‘Yeah, I know who she is.’  The little girl said, ‘Well, who is she?’

‘That’s just Shirley Goodnest ,’ Timmy replied, ‘and her daughter Marcy .’
‘ Shirley Goodnest ? Who is she and why is she following us?

‘Well,’ Timmy explained, ‘every night my Mum makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, ‘cuz she worries about me so much.
And in the Psalm, it says, ‘ Shirley Goodnest (surely goodness ) and Marcy (mercy) shall follow me all the days of my life’, so I guess I’ll just have to get used to it!’

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you; Love Heart! ~Debra
