Negative Nan

Some of my happiest times are family dinners!  Providing food for our large family isn’t an easy task, but my mom seems to always come through.

This particular time the feast was waiting for the vultures to dig in, but the rolls weren’t quite ready.

We continue to talk, laugh and have a good time while waiting.  Then next thing you know my mother was screaming…they’re burnt!  Just look the bottoms of these rolls. They’re ruined.  My son replies…Oh Gram, we’ll just cut off the burnt part!

Supper was wonderful and we enjoyed the rolls, but you know that to this day my mother still talks about those burnt rolls.  With all that fabulous food, all she can remember was the one item that didn’t come out perfect.

Do you tend to dwell on the negative of a situation?

Dwelling on a negative situation only gives it power, it feeds off of you.   Hopefully you can learn something from it and press forward!

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14, NIV)

“And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  (Isaiah 9:6, NIV)

Prayer is a powerful tool!  Ask your Counselor, he will give you the guidance, strength, direction and motivation to press on! ~Deb

Trapped

th (2)Discouragement can rob you of your peace, joy and satisfaction. But I have GREAT news.  You’re not trapped! It make look hopeless now, but all is not lost.

Why?…you may be asking.  Either circumstances or emotions can change.  Love Heart; Instead of wallowing in self-pity, make the decision to trust God!

Nehemiah is a perfect example. (Nehemiah 2:1-8, NIV) He had every reason to be discouraged.  His people were in trouble and after receiving news that the city wall had been demolished, this man of God was very disappointed and grieved.  His pain was great, but Nehemiah didn’t allow himself to stay in this pit.  He cried out to God for direction.

“Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem. They said to me, Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire. When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.” (Nehemiah 2:2-4, NIV)  th (9)

God can take any situation and turn it around!  Do you live in anticipation of what God is going to do?  Or do you live in despair?   God can take your petition, just like Nehemiah’s, and turn it into something wonderful.  Don’t allow negative emotions to take a stronghold, call on God!  Deb~

th (5)In the world we live in, we are surrounded by people that are consumed with negativity!

I have a co-worker that just bit my head off the other day for no apparent reason.

My first reaction was to bit back, but the Holy Spirit calmed my spirit and I realized there had to be something else going on.th (7)

“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” (James 3:17, NLT)

It’s was like the flashing warning light in your car that tells you something not right under the hood. th (6)

It could have been family problems, a stronghold, sickness, or finances.  I prayed for understanding and wisdom.

The next time someone bites your head off, ask yourself; what’s going on?  You never know what is going on in someone else’s life that may be causing that negativity.

May God give us wisdom and grace to pray for deliverance!  ~Debra
