Wind turbines can generate electric power anywhere the wind is blowing strong and steady.  The momentum of the moving air propels the large blades that are attached to the source that produces the electric energy.

Prayer generates power when you tap into the right source.  The momentum doesn’t come from our power but the one who’s being prayed to.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he ears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1John 5:14-15, NIV)

Prayer is not used as if we have a “secret formula”…it’s not based on how we pray, if we use fancy words, pray in a certain place, or repeat the same prayer over and over (Matthew 6:5).

It’s the source of the power that we should seek…  “Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”  (Matthew 17:20, NIV)

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5, NIV)

“Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says…I’ll try again tomorrow.” ~Mary Ann Radmacher.

God’s word is full of people that showed great courage.  Here are some words to live by as you face those everyday challenges.     

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NIV)

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalms 27:14, NIV)

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you, In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalms 56:3-4, NIV)

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”  (Psalms 31:24, NIV)

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who give me strength.” (Philippians 4:12-13, NIV)

“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13, NIV)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)

Rise Up…

Have you ever been to a church service and felt the Holy Spirit prompting you to stand; either for the scripture reading or a song?

 

I have, especially with music.  It’s my worship!  Some songs you just can’t sing sitting down!!

It was the same way for the people in the book of Ezra.  They were honoring the word because they knew the Word had power to change peoples lives!!

I enjoy teaching God’s word, but I also take it very seriously.  It’s not something to be taken lightly.  I stive to show tremendous respect, joy and love for the word of God.  I’ve seen the power behind it.  I’ve experienced the valley’s and mountaintops, but through it all God’s word has been my guide.  image

If you have never experienced the tranforming power of God’s Holy Word, I encourage you to give it a try.  You’ll see why it deserves our honor and respect! ~Debra

Sunflowers

I just love Sunflowers, don’t you?  They’re so bright and cheery, bold yet comfortable.

The leaves are heart shaped; they stand proud and strong, faces raised as a reflection of God’s love.  Did you know that there isn’t much that can stop a sunflower from growing?  These bold flowers are very persistent.  I’ve seen them take root and push through cracks in concrete.

This unique flower also draws impurities from the soil and still blooms into a beautiful creation. 

As you live day to day, know that there will be obstacles and If you push through and allow God to sift away the impurities, there are seeds of hope awaiting you.

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:36, NIV)

Just as the sunflower is drawn by the sun, we are sought by His Son!! ~Deb

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
