The Very Best Thing~

September 28, 2016 — Leave a comment

eyebrowIt’s like a plague. So many people I know, including myself, are in turmoil lion-and-zebraup to their eyebrows.  Listen, friend.  Your enemy, the devil, is stalking you, waiting to take you down!

I’m guilty of saying, “All I can do is pray.” It occurred to me that this statement is very incorrect and gives the wrong impression of my God and His extraordinary capabilities!

I’m changing my tune. My new statement is, “The very best thing I can do it pray!”

I know you’ve heard it said that prayer should not be your last resort, and it shouldn’t. But it also shouldn’t sound like a last ditch effort on your part either!

Praise the Lord for His wonderful favor – the privilege to ask Him personally for help that only He can provide!  Gwen~

imageI’ve learned many a lesson in my 58 years on this planet!   One of the most important, “there are two sides to every story!”

I know it’s hard not to leap to conclusions, but until you know for sure, what‘s truth and what‘s fiction, you better not take sides.

What’s the answer?  P~R~A~Y~E~R!    Who else, but our heavenly Father, knows the truth?  I can answer that question for you, no one!!  image

So, the next time you’re sitting around listening to the latest bit of gossip, think twice.  It could be you they are talking about next time!  Bring it before the Father,  He’s the only one with that knows for sure and for certain!~Debra

Best Friends…

Do you know why God made you and what your purpose is?  Your answers probably require some kind of action from you.

We think that in order to be close to God we must be doing something for him; busy work…singing in the choir, teaching a Sunday school class, leading or volunteering in our churches or communities.

And God appreciates those things, but what He really wants..”is a relationship with you!”  Time spent between just you and Him?

“I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship…” (Philippians 3:10, NIV)

“After he had dismissed them he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.  When evening came, he was there alone…” (Matthew 14:23, NIV)

Relationships take commitment.  It has to be a priority and here are a couple of ideas that work for me.

Quiet Time – Time I spend in the Word, imperative!

Prayer Walking – I learned this from a dear friend, Pat Dulude.  She rises early in the morning and just walks and talks with the Lord.  I like this because I accomplish three things: exercise, prayer and fellowship.  You choose the time that works for you.

I associate my time with the Lord like the time I spend with my best friend.  We laugh, we cry, we find solutions, we bear our very souls.  And how do you feel after talking with that friend you trust.  I feel renewed, ready to take on the world.

That’s how it is with Christ.  He wants to be your best friend and the best thing about that…He has all the RIGHT ANSWERS!!  ~Debra

Astonished!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV)

Peter was arrested during the reign of King Herod and the church was praying for Peter’s deliverance.

Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. An angel of the Lord appeared and lead Peter to freedom.  He thought he was dreaming.  Then it dawned on him that the Lord had sent an angel for his deliverance.

Peter went to the house where they were praying for him and knocked on the door.  When the servant of the house heard Peter’s voice she was so excited that she failed to let Peter in as she ran to tell those praying for him.…”Peter is at the door!”

Of course, they all thought she was out of her mind.  They went to check for themselves
and found Peter at the door.   Scripture tell us…they were astonished!

ASTONISHED!!  Why is it that we are astonished when God answers our prayers?  Isn’t that what we are longing for?  Our hearts desire?? …He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him. (1 Chronicles 5:20, NIV)

Friends…God is in the business of answering prayer!    “This, then is how you should pray:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, you will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread.  Forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil one.” ( Matthew 6:8-13, NIV)

Let’s turn our prayer meetings into a time of celebration  and acknowledge Him!  Deb~

“David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Samuel 17:45, NIV)
