Archives For praying

A few years ago, I met a woman and her family who were staying at a facility where I was.  All we said was “hello” but I saw her and her husband and their children regularly over the course of the week.  I’ve not seen her again since then…probably because it was over 5000 miles from my home.

God has brought this woman to my mind many times.  In my mind’s eye, I can see her as clearly as if she were in the same room.  Now, why does she keep popping into my mind?

My experience tells me that when anybody repeatedly comes to mind, I need to pray for them, so pray I have.  When I told my friends about this experience, Beverly told us of a time when God woke her up in the middle of the night and instructed her to pray for Emily.  Now the catch is that Beverly didn’t know a single person named Emily.

As we discussed this unusual event and tried to make sense of it, all we could determine is God is seeking our obedience.  He does not need my weak and insufficient prayers to help anyone, but I need to be obedient to His voice, whatever it says.

So, dear one, if you happen to read this blog and God reminds you of me or you recognize me, know that I and some of my friends who met you also, have been praying for you.  We don’t know what your need is, but we are certain that God does.

And, know that you are loved by us – even if we don’t know your name.  Gwen~

Go for it!

For the last few years, my son, Charlie, has been a mentor to a younger kiddo who lives in our neighborhood.   Charlie has taken him to church many times, and God has saved this little one.  Charlie had the privilege of praying with him.

Do we look for opportunities?  Do we take our time to minister to those around us who need to hear a word from God by investing our lives into theirs?

When I talked to my new little brother in Christ, I asked him why he had made this decision.  He gave several reasons but one of them really touched my heart.  He said he wants to help others.  He went on to say that he has a friend who doesn’t know who God is.  Clearly he is bothered by that.  God has already started doing a work in this young life.

Do you know people who don’t know God?  Do you know some who know God but aren’t reconciled to him throught the blood of His Son, Jesus?  Sure you do.  They’re all around you.  Ask God to give you courage and opportunity.  Then go for it!

You don’t have to be a preacher, or a Sunday School teacher to help somebody find the redeeming love of Jesus.  You just have to be willing to share what you know.  Invest your life…you won’t be sorry! Gwen~
