ABC’s

May 27, 2015 — Leave a comment

imageOne of the things we enjoy sharing with people is the “Love of Christ.” He loved us so much that He gave His only son!

Becoming a Christian can be as simple as knowing your ABCs.

A-Admit: Admit to God that you are a sinner, Repent, turning away from your sin. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Acts 3:19; I John 1:9)

Everyone has a problem with sin.  God’s word tells us the first step is admitting that we are a sinner and seperated from God because of it.  This step includes turing from sin (repentence) and self and turning to God.   image

B-Believe: Believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and accept God’s gift of forgiveness from sin. (John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:11-13)

Salvation is offered to all who believe!

C-Confess: Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (Romans 10:9-10, 13)

imageAfter you have confessed your sin, asked Jesus into your heart, tell someone.  Your Pastor or another believer.  Then talk with your Pastor or friend about the next step, baptism by immersion, as an expession of your faith and obedience.

Matthew 28:19-20, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

As you study these scriptures…seek Him and His salvation. Deb~

Are you stuck in the past? Thinking to yourself… coulda, woulda, shoulda?  Don’t get stuck in the same ole rut of bringing up things you want to forget! What about your dreams?

God didn’t get stuck with you, He chose you!  “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last.” (John 15:16, NIV
God can use you if you are able to let go of the past.  He wants you to move forward!  Take a hold of those dreams you once had.

Satan is the accuser of the brethren…he would love for you to stay right where you are for the rest of your life.  He would like nothing more than to continue to bring up images from past!  Abortion, abuse, rape, idolatry, drugs, pornography!  Memories you replay in your mind!

Empty it out! Repentance is the closure you need from your past!  Then… stop remembering what God has forgotten and allow Him to use you!

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14, NIV)

Why not start today?!  It’s not about the clock, it’s about consistency.  “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all thing are possible with God.”(Mark10:27, NIV)

Feed what you want to live and starve what you want to die!  Start today by doing one thing…just one, to stretch your growth.  Listen to some inspirational cd’s, post some scripture around to memorize, add some Christian music to your collection.  And most important, read God’s word daily.

“Forget what happened long ago!  Don’t think about the past.  I am creating something new.  There it is! Do you see it?  I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Broken

January 25, 2012 — Leave a comment

I had a friend tell me of a story of a day her and her sister went to the doctors office for a follow up visit with her orthopedic specialist.

Once they were called back they were ushered into a room with several examining tables separated only by curtains.

While waiting an infant was brought in along with his parents. The mother seemed very anxious and was being comforted by her husband.  She in turn, comforted the little boy.   It didn’t take long for my friend and her sister to realize they intended to break the boy’s foot.

The break was needed in order for the foot to mend properly.  So, with the parents looking on and holding their beloved son in their arms, the doctor broke the foot.

The screams that were heard were so chilling it brought tears to my friend and her sister.  Never had they witness such an ordeal.

The mother was crying, the child was obviously crying and all the while the father was helpless to change a thing.  All he could do is stand by and watch knowing this was the best thing for his child for proper healing.

How may times have you found yourself in a trying situation… time of hardship, a trial or time of testing?

I’ve had a few; let me tell you and some I still don’t understand. There is one thing I do know… that I need to yield and trust in the Lord in order to overcome and grow.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)

Your Heavenly Father only wants what is best for you but sometimes we have to reach a place of brokenness before we will allow Him to intervene and receive His healing grace.

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorry brings death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10, NIV)

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)

Make the decision to have Faith in God and find strength in Him and Him alone. ~Deb
