Passion

August 17, 2017 — Leave a comment

My husband and I have been watching some of the old Billy Graham ministry programs.  Wow!  He preaches straight from the heart and lead by the Spirit.  No holding back from this man.

As I watched the telecast, one thing stood out for me.  The people who had made a decision for Christ were RUNNING to the altar.  When is the last time you’ve seen or felt that kind of Passion for anything?  Especially the Lord!

Thesaurus defines Passion as: fervor, obsession, excitement, enthusiasm, zeal, delight!

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind with all your strength!” (Deuteronomy 6:5) Deb~

Running…

April 25, 2015 — Leave a comment

I had a visit from my past yesterday and it wasn’t pretty.  Someone was threatening me and I panicked.

Then as if out of nowhere a still small voice says…think about this Debra!  It’s a lie!

The Holy Spirit prompted me to pray and seek the wise council of my husband.  We sought a solution and help from a friend.  Today…I’m a bit stronger!

God didn’t stop there.  In my Bible study, He affirmed that I need to stop running from my past!

Love Heart…If you are running from something…at some point in your life you are going to have to confront the issue and move beyond it.

“God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.”  (2 Timothy 1:7, NIV)

God’s gave us armor to protect ourselves.

Eph 6:10-17 (NIV) …Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

God has given US an assignment to do and the power to do it.  We will not allow Satan to steal our joy with our past.

I’m praying that God will give US the strength to run forward and meet the challenges set before us as David ran toward Goliath…”You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”(! Samuel 17:45-46, NIV)

Put on your armor and quit looking back. ~Deb

Aimlessly

August 13, 2014 — Leave a comment

As I’m walking my 3 miles at the park today; I saw several people running.  I thought to myself, I wish I could do that. Train and run in a 5 K.  Wow, that would be an accomplishment!

Besides the fact that my lungs would be screaming for air, I physically can’t because I have a bad back and don’t want to risk another injury!

God calls us to run a race.  A race I can run!!

1 Corinthians 9:25-27, NIV, states “Do you know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.  Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.  No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Every athlete knows that strict training is essential for success!

As a believer we are called into strict training.  We aren’t to run aimlessly or beat the air.  We have God’s word, prayer, worship, and study to keeps us focused.   Sooooo, we will not be disqualified for the prize.  We continue to build our staying power. ~Deb
