Love Thy Neighbor~

January 27, 2017 — Leave a comment

I know a woman who was prompted by God several years ago to give her unbelieving neighbor a bible.  A while later, she invited him to a Sunday School class party.  Now, she’s 25 years older than he, so it wasn’t like a date!

But she knew that he didn’t have a relationship with Jesus and she wanted him to see that Christians are normal people whose sins have been forgiven.

He agreed to go and he loved it.  The folks at the party were very kind and caring with him.  He agreed to come to church for the mid-week service because dinner was served.  Again, the folks loved on him and made him feel welcome.  (And the food wasn’t bad either!)  He came each week for the dinner and as he did, he built relationships with many there.

Eventually he decided he was ready for Sunday morning.  Again, his new friends were thrilled to see him on a Sunday and welcomed him warmly.  Of course, each time he was there, he was given teaching from God’s word and saw it being lived out in front of him.  And he saw the difference in his new friends.

I heard he has accepted Christ as his own and had been baptized into the family of faith!

You know, sometimes we are afraid to talk to people about Jesus because we are afraid they will ask us something that we don’t know the answer to.  Love Heart, you don’t have to have all the answers, I promise.

If you will just listen to the urgings of the Holy Spirit, He may just allow you to be a part of something wonderful…like the salvation of a friend!  Oh yeah, his new slogan is, “I came for food and stayed for God!”  Don’t you love it?  Gwen~

What I’m Thankful For~

November 22, 2016 — Leave a comment

This week, as I reflect on all that I’m thankful for, the thing that has to be at the top of the list is the forgiveness of my sins by the blood of Jesus.  I’m thankful that God has made a way for me to live with Him forever.

I will be posting a series of blogs about the way to get to heaven.  Now, I know that many around the world may disagree with me on this, but Love Heart, know this…it’s not my story…it’s His.

You may not understand, but if you will earnestly seek God, I promise He will not hide Himself from you.  His Holy Spirit will help you to understand. Gwen~

Truth or Dare

Do you ever question if faith in Jesus in the only way to be saved?  Satan is very crafty.  He lies and twists God’s word to confuse us!  He would have everyone believe that sooner or later everyone will make it to heaven.  Is that what scripture tells us?

We have a choice to reject or accept Christ’s gift of salvation.  “God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him is not condemned; he who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believe in the name of the only begotten Sod of God” (John 3:17-18, NIV)

The scripture clearly states that …”whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV).  We only have this time on earth to make that choice.  There are no second chances after death!

Why not make sure of your salvation today, and ask Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. God promises eternity for those who make that decision and wrath to those who don’t.  “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; but whoever rejects the son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. ” (John 3:36, NIV)

Do not be fooled by the lure of a second chance.  Remember, there are no second chances after death.  We have this life to accept or reject Christ!

For the last few years, my son, Charlie, has been a mentor to a younger kiddo who lives in our neighborhood.   Charlie has taken him to church many times, and God has saved this little one.  Charlie had the privilege of praying with him.

Do we look for opportunities?  Do we take our time to minister to those around us who need to hear a word from God by investing our lives into theirs?

When I talked to my new little brother in Christ, I asked him why he had made this decision.  He gave several reasons but one of them really touched my heart.  He said he wants to help others.  He went on to say that he has a friend who doesn’t know who God is.  Clearly he is bothered by that.  God has already started doing a work in this young life.

Do you know people who don’t know God?  Do you know some who know God but aren’t reconciled to him throught the blood of His Son, Jesus?  Sure you do.  They’re all around you.  Ask God to give you courage and opportunity.  Then go for it!

You don’t have to be a preacher, or a Sunday School teacher to help somebody find the redeeming love of Jesus.  You just have to be willing to share what you know.  Invest your life…you won’t be sorry! Gwen~
