Man of Riddles

August 25, 2015 — Leave a comment

Samson was a man of great strength but refused to deal with his weaknesses.

The Holy Spirit was moving in his life but he chose a path of pleasure. The Bible gives two accounts of Samson surrendering to temptation.

Judges 14 tells us of the account of his marriage and how his weakness led to exposure and Judges 16 tells of his lustful indulgence which led to his death.

* “Let me tell you a riddle, Samson said to them.  If you can give the answer within the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes. If you can’t tell me the answer, you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes.” (Judges 14:12, NIV)

* “Then she said to him, How can you say, ‘I love you’ when you won’t confined in me?”(Judges 16:15, NIV)

When we are too proud to admit to our weakness and live in defiance, it will lead to a lack of restraint and open the door to sin.

That’s what happened to Samson.  He exchanged God’s blessings for sexual pleasure and in the end he had nothing.

Sin…given the smallest chance will ruin every aspect of your life; relationships, faith, job and family.

If you are thinking you don’t have a weakness; Satan already has his hands on you, blinding you to the truth about yourself.

You have to make a choice to face temptation alone or ask for God’s strength to overcome?  ~Deb

Listen to what King David had to say in his song we find in Psalm 19:12-14.  “Who can discern his errors?  Forgive my hidden faults.  Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.  Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.  May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

What do you think he’s thinking here?  It seems to me that he’s making sure that he’s got it all the bases covered.  He knows that he doesn’t even recognize some of his sins so he’s asking for those hidden faults to be forgiven.  Next he asks that he won’t succumb to willful sins either.  Then he finishes up by saying that he wants his sole focus to be on the Lord and acknowledges just who the Lord is to him…his Rock and Redeemer.

If you know about King David, you know that there was a time in his life that he lost his focus in a big way, and he paid dearly for it.  But his God never turned His back on him.  And you know what? No matter how badly you’ve lost your way, God has not turned his back on you either.  He has promised in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Love Heart, don’t lose your way.  Get back on the path today!  Gwen~

Tug of War

This world will pull you in all directions and most of it will destroy you!  As a believer, we are physically present in this world, but we don’t have to be a part of its sin and destruction.  Sin has no power over us!  The remarkable thing is that our belief in Christ causes our heart to change and so do our interest.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2, NIV)

Love Heart, if you’re struggling, if all seems hopeless, you have no one to cling too, choose Jesus!  Just reach out, He’s there! ~Debra

The Cross…

April 27, 2015

What does the cross mean to you?  Some say it’s a symbol of Christianity, but let’s take a look at what it represents.

The cross was a torturous means of executuion but we believers have chosen it as a sign of faith.  To remove the cross from our teaching would leave our theology empty and powerless.

No one wants to consider the pain and sacrifice that Jesus endured on the cross for our sins.  We would rather hear of his love and provision.

Remember Love Heart, there is NO forgiveness without the shedding of blood.

“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22, NIV)

Everytime you see a cross, remember it really was a means of torture.  Jesus was willing to sacrifice his life…the shedding of His blood, that you might have eternal life.

It’s was also an intrument of LOVE…~Debra

April Fools’

April 1, 2015 — Leave a comment

th (3)April Fools’ Day is celebrated every year on the first day of April as a day when people play practical jokes on each other.  Some people can’t wait to try their newest joke or hoax on their family and friends.  I’m not a fan!

There is another day this week that some would have people believe is a joke, hoax, fairy tale or myth.  Easter!

A day where millions will reflect on the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ!  For a believer, it the very essence of our Faith.

Christ loved us so much that he was willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice and take our place on a cruel cross.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

It is no joke, He died that we may have eternal life.

“He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.” (1 Peter 2:24, NIV)

Love Heart, we are ALL sinners and have come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  No one is excluded, but there is hope!

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Good Friday is the day we reflect on Christ shedding His innocent blood as an atonement for our sins, but…. Hallelujah, we have the joy in knowing we serve a risen Savior!!  He Lives!! ~Debrath (4)
