Just for You!

August 14, 2015 — 1 Comment

My back yard is an absolute wreck!  It’s so dry here in west Texas that the grass crunches under your feet.  Our lawn looks like something out of a horror movie.  Check out this picture my son, Charlie, took.

Totally unexpected and completely without reason, this beautiful sunflower sprang up.  My husband feeds the birds, so it must have been one of those random seeds that took root.  It definitely wasn’t planted.

Can you imagine how happy I was to see that flower spring up from the badlands of our yard?  It seemed like God Himself personally handed it to me.

Are you able to imagine that He enjoys every little aspect of our lives?  Give this your attention – Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV) says, “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Have you ever considered the Creator of the universe taking delight in you?  And singing over you?  Oh, Love Heart, love Him today.  He’s madly in love with you.  Gwen~

Sisters…

I love all kinds of music…don’t you?  It gives me joy, hope, strength and convicts me.  God speaks to me through song.

My love of music grew through my mother and her sisters.  Mom is the oldest of 5 girls.  Aunt Irene; plays the piano and sings tenor, Aunt Kathey sings Alto…she a mover and shaker, Aunt Barbara sings a powerful Alto,  Aunt Fran sings…..whatever she feels like at the moment and my mom, the lone soprano.

I remember those Saturday afternoon when we would all pack in my Nanny and Grandaddy’s 10×12 living room to sing.

Every Aunt, Uncle, cousin, sibling, spouse and neighbor would be there once they heard the “Floyd Sister’s” were singing.

As my mom and her sisters begin to sing and lift praises to the Lord; she would motion for me to stand beside her.  Little did they know that those wonderful afternoons they were being used of God to prepare me for this season of my life; with Love Heart Ministries.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:9, NIV)

These ladies are up in years but they are still serving.  Next month they are having a sister’s weekend and are scheduled to sing at local nursing homes.

I can’t imagine a time when these ladies won’t be willing to sing for the Lord.  We are called to be examples and to serve. God’s word doesn’t mention an age limit.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20, NIV)

My Song

imageThere are just days when I just want to pull my hair out!  If I allow myself to get wrapped up in the moment, I can do some serious damage.

My focus has got to change and the way I do that…a song! I start singing! Rejoice and be Thankful, Love Heart!

Channel that frustration and allow Christ peace to flow into you.

“Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. (Psalm 95:2, NIV)

God’s greatest work is done when you are grateful in all circumstances.~ Debra

“Be joyful always; pray continually;give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV)

Worship

Singing is a form of worship which speaks to me like no other.  I grew up singing hymns along side my Aunts.  If I close my eyes and listen; I can still hear their beautiful voices as they blend in beautiful harmony…
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.Chorus: He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away,
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day. With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God!
For such a Redeemer as mine. When clothed with His brightness transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

“There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.” (Exodus 33:21-23,NIV)

Wylie Pep Club

May 4, 2011 — 1 Comment

Just finished singing for my in-laws pep club at Wylie Baptist Church . You know, the kind of thing where everyone brings a covered dish.

Gets their dessert first and waits for it to be their tables turn to go get the real food.  What a treat!

Thank You, God for the privilege of singing Your praises.  As I scanned the audience what a blessing I received as I saw face after face shine with recognition of words they’d heard before fill the air.

Some smiling, some eyes closed, some singing, all with appreciation of Christ love and sacrifice.

As I begin one song.  “Praise His Name”.  You could see a change in the faces.  What was it? Recognition?

A reminder that we ALL go through “things” but during those times of hardship, hurt, loneliness, we are never alone.

If we will just “Praise His Name” you can praise the hurt away!!

Life’s not always fair, we can run away and hide, let the old man decide, or we can change our circumstances with a prayer…

When everything falls apart, praise His name,

When you  have a broken heart,

raise your hands and say, Greater is He that is within me,

You can praise the hurt of away, if you’ll just praise His name
