Starry, Starry Night

February 6, 2017 — Leave a comment

A while back on a news website, there was a piece on the sound a star makes.  What?!  Yep, the sound a star makes.  I clicked on the audio portion and my body was immediately covered in goose bumps from head to toe.

I don’t think it was the repetitive droning sound that had that effect on me.  I think I was overwhelmed by the fact that so very, very far away, the splendor and majesty of the Creator is on display. Just because we had not heard it until now didn’t mean that for generations unknown the star wasn’t singing its song!

The Hubble telescope brought pictures of those distant worlds to us – spectacular in ways we couldn’t imagine.  Hear the word of the Lord~

Genesis 1:1  “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

Genesis 1:14-18  “And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.  And it was so.  God made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.  He also made the stars.  God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness.  And God saw that it was good.”

What else is there to say? Gwen~

Star Power

Speaking of a former high profile TV reality personality, the article said her star may have faded once her show was cancelled. star

I want you to know that as a Christian, your brilliance doesn’t depend on whether or not you’ve been fired from your job! God has something to say about that very thing. Two scriptures come to mind.

Daniel 12:3 says, “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”

Philippians 2:14-15 says, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing,so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”

mcdonald observatory Have you ever had the opportunity to be outside in a place that is very dark at night?  In the Davis Mountains in Texas where the McDonald Observatory is located, the stars are so bright and seem so close that you could almost reach out and touch them.

Love Heart, it’s our job in this “warped and crooked generation” to be the light – to offer hope and wisdom in a dark and dangerous time.  Gwen~

Oh, Canada!

This is King Lo, pastor of the Chinese Christian Gospel Church and his beautiful wife, Doris.  We will be leaving in 9 days on Mission Trip to fellowship with his congregation in Richmond, BC, Canada.

I am so looking forward to the “Family Camp!”  My group will be ministering to the children of this wonderful family of God.

We will be out in the middle of nowhere…you know, where the trees reach to the skyline and all you can see is the moon and the stars!  Thank You to our wonderful Creator!

We ask for prayer, that God would prepare the hearts of those we come in contact with, traveling mercies, and that we will dig deep into the word and come back with a story to tell.

Thank you dear God in advance for what you are going to do in our lives and the lives of this congregation!  Deb~
