The Glad Game

August 17, 2016 — Leave a comment

imageI grew up watching Disney movies.  I still love the old ones like Pollyanna!  The point of the story is a young lady, who’s parents both die, comes to live with a RICH aunt.  One of those that owns the town.

Some of the people of the town want to hold a bazaar to raise money for the local orphanage.  Dear Auntie refuses to allow it!!!

The organizers are at a loss and all they can do is grumble and complain.  Pollyanna suggest they play the “glad game!” Think of something to be glad about.

“The Joy of the Lord is your strength; my heart trust in him, and he helps me.  My heart leaps for joy, and my song I praise him.”  Psalm 28:7  image

The devil wants to steal your joy!  Complaining weakens us!

Don’t just look at your problems, focus on your blessings.  Being thankful brings you into a joyful spirit. ~Debra

Negative Nan

August 17, 2016 — Leave a comment

Some of my happiest times are family dinners!  Providing food for our large family isn’t an easy task, but my mom seems to always come through.

This particular time the feast was waiting for the vultures to dig in, but the rolls weren’t quite ready.

We continue to talk, laugh and have a good time while waiting.  Then next thing you know my mother was screaming…they’re burnt!  Just look the bottoms of these rolls. They’re ruined.  My son replies…Oh Gram, we’ll just cut off the burnt part!

Supper was wonderful and we enjoyed the rolls, but you know that to this day my mother still talks about those burnt rolls.  With all that fabulous food, all she can remember was the one item that didn’t come out perfect.

Do you tend to dwell on the negative of a situation?

Dwelling on a negative situation only gives it power, it feeds off of you.   Hopefully you can learn something from it and press forward!

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14, NIV)

“And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  (Isaiah 9:6, NIV)

Prayer is a powerful tool!  Ask your Counselor, he will give you the guidance, strength, direction and motivation to press on! ~Deb

Sufficient Courage

October 15, 2015 — Leave a comment

Have you ever been afraid of something?  You needed courage…but didn’t know where to find it.  God’s word gives us the answers we need to get us through any situation.

Courage is for anything you absolutely do NOT want to do…or scared to do; Paul was in prison and DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE, but simply needed sufficient courage for right then!

“Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.” (Philippians 1:19-20, NIV)

Fear goes exactly where we tell it to go!  We can move fear from the back of our minds to the front with one swift thought! We shift our concentration away from our courage by focusing on what is frightening us.  Therefore,…strengthening the fear.

Stop it!!  Choose to push through the fear…”Sufficient Courage.”

Sufficient:  ample, enough, plenty.  Courage:  bravery, guts, nerve, daring…

God will give you just what you need at that very moment!  “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, KJV)

Those self-imposed barriers are broken and you begin to grow in His strength!  “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV

Cling to the word and Gods promise and reward.  (Psalms 119:116, Romans 14:8, I Corinthians 6:20, 2 Corinthians 3:12 and 7:4, I Peter 4:16)

Never Give Up…

February 27, 2015 — Leave a comment

Don’t you know that the Lord is everlasting?  He does not grow weary or faint.  He is the creator of Heaven and Earth.  He gives power and strength to the faint.  He understands what you are going through.

God’s word tell us if we will WAIT upon the Lord…he will renew our strength

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV)

Do not give up, Love Heart, He hears you!  He knows your every need and desire.  He knows just what you need and WHEN you need it!   WAIT upon the Lord~ Debra

The source of your strength is

His Strength.

The focus of your faith is

                              His faithfulness.

The source of your security is

His everlasting love.
