I Come to the Garden

Where did our Savior go when troubled.  Where did He go for strength, courage, comfort, and peace.  To the Father!  When Christ was faced with the supreme sacrifice, His life, He spent hours in prayer seeking the fathers will.


“I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses

and the voice I hear falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tell me I am His own,

And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever know.”

Who better to intercede for us than the one who has walked in our shoes!

Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy, Lord have Mercy on Us!  ~Deb

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that come from the gospel of peace,.. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:11-17, NIV)

Our life is going to be full of challenges and obstacles.  In Ephesians 6, Paul tells us the real battle is in the Spiritual realm.  We can’t rely
on our own strength or we will be defeated. 

Wisdom Walks”  by Dan Britton & Jimmy Page, breaks it down like this.

    • Expect it… “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world. (John 16:33, NIV)
    • Be true…the Belt of Truth:  This holds all the other parts together and you’ll want to practice integrity and not be looking over your shoulder all the time waiting for a lie to catch up with you.
    • Be right…The Breastplate of Righteousness: True righteousness comes when your heart is made right through faith in Christ Jesus.  Asking forgiveness for sin everyday keep that protection in place.
    • Be ready…your feet fitted with readiness: Be ready to share the gospel, your faith in Christ!
    • Be sure…The Shield of Faith:  Faith protects you from the devil.  You’ll use anything and everything to trip you up.
    • Be smart…the Helmet of Salvation:  The helmet protects your mind.  “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  (Romans 12:2, NIV).  When you meditate on His word and put it into action it easier to have a positive attitude.
    • Be skilled…The Sword of the Spirit:  When you know the word of God he will bring those verses to mind when you need them most.

imageHave you ever watched a butterfly struggle to free itself from its cocoon?  It takes a very long time.  I’ve always wondered why and discovered that as the butterfly struggles to free itself, nature is forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so it will be ready to spread its wings and fly.  If this process doesn’t occur the butterfly would be weak with shriveled wings and unable to fly.    

Sometimes struggles are just what we need.  God allows obstacles in our life so that we don’t become crippled and weak.  He wants us to spread our wings and fly!

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1, NIV)image

So when you ask for strength and receive difficulties, wisdom and received problems, prosperity and are given an ability to work, courage and receive obstacles, love and receive someone to help through troubled times, favor and receive opportunities.  Thank the Lord!

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstance.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:11-13,NIV)

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  (Ephesians 3:16-19, NIV)

As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  I sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched , and they withered because they had no root.” (Matthew 13:3-6, NIV)

You hear the word and receive it with joy.  But if you have no roots, it will only last a short time.  When trouble or persecution comes; you will fail.

Dig deep in the word, worship with fellow believers, stay in constant communication with the Father and your roots will grow strong and deep. ~ Debra
