Archives For time

Time is definitely zipping by.  I look back and can’t imagine where the years have gone!

mistJames 14:4 says, “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

What will be the evidence that you lived?  Will you leave behind things of value? Not monetary value, but real value, such as kindness, love, the desire to follow Jesus?

Everything on this earth will burn up some day and all the money in the world won’t stop that from happening.  What will remain?  The Word…Jesus.  Gwen~

Another Time and Place

Have you every thought that you were born in the wrong time?  I’ve been sitting here this afternoon watching my old Christmas movies.

White Christmas, Holiday Inn, The Bishops Wife; all which are from the 1940’s and 50’s.  The music, the clothes, the cars; I love it all. image

I can just see myself in one of those elegant dresses singing and dancing the night away!

It’s ok to dream of being born in another time and another place, but being born at this time and place was God’s design.

“I know the plans I have for you, declares The Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)

Being obedient to God’s word gives meaning and purpose to this life. Being who God calls us to be and doing what He call us to do is preparing for eternity.

Well done, thy good and faithful servant. ~Debra

Time Out!

th (1)I find in my Bible reading, when I’m rushed, my mind flips back and forth between my reading and what I have yet to do.  Time with God cannot be rushed

Spending time in the word with the Heavenly Father, allowing Him equip and strengthen us, should be our TOP priority and your wisest investment! ~Debra

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” ( Psalms 119:105)    th (5)

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. …” (Roman 8:1-39)

Tick Tock

th (1)I love musicals.  One of my favorites is “My Fair Lady”. There’s a scene where a bachelor kicks up his heels for the last time the night before the wedding. He reminds his buddies to “Get Him to the Church on Time” no matter what!

People are obsessed with time and living for the moment!  Don’t you think?  We have planners with dates and times.  Are we focused on things on earth or things above?

If I’m reading God’s word correctly we are to be focused on Him and sharing His love with others. Our time her on earth is not ours!   th

th (2)Each day we grow as we read His word. Through that growth we serve and share what He has done for us with others while waiting for His return.

“No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven,  nor the Son, only the Father.” (Mark 13:32,NIV)

A Fishing Story

July 1, 2012 — Leave a comment

A father and son left early on a Saturday morning to spend the day fishing.  They fished all day and caught nothing.  All day… and nothing!

When they returned home tired from their long day, each wrote down the events of the day.

The father wrote:  Went fishing with my son today.  Didn’t catch anything.  A whole day wasted.

The son wrote:  Went fishing with my dad.  We didn’t catch anything.  Best day of my life.

Isn’t it  funny how two people doing the same thing can have a  such different perspective? Time spent with a loved one can never be time wasted.

When is the last time you sat with your child and read a book?  Went to your parents and sat and talked about the events of the day.  Spent some time with your brother and or sister…or both!  Met up with an old friend.  Life is too short…take time and spend it with the ones you love!  Maybe a few you don’t…make amends.

We have no promise of tomorrow, Love Heart, do it today!!  (1 Peter 1:24-25, NIV, John 10:28, NIV)~Deb
