God’s word is full of people that showed great courage.  Here are some words to live by as you face those everyday challenges.     

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NIV)

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalms 27:14, NIV)

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you, In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalms 56:3-4, NIV)

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”  (Psalms 31:24, NIV)

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who give me strength.” (Philippians 4:12-13, NIV)

“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13, NIV)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)

Tomorrow

I remember back in high school telling a friend, I’ll see you Monday!  That weekend she was killed in a horrific car accident.  What a shock!!  When something terrible happens like this it brings to mind our mortality.

I would like to issue a challenge:  For one year, live your life here on earth as if it were your last!  image

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that” (James 4:13-15).

I’m praying our prospective will be different and that our focus will be on different priorities and people. ~Debra

 

Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy!

th (13)The phones are ringing off the wall at work this morning at work.  Some callers are nice; others not so nice.  It can become very frustrating!

*Deep Breath*…I’m determined that I will not allow others to steal my joy!

Psalms 118:24 “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

I have to remind myself constantly not to complain about the things that happen during my day.  God is the author and creator and maybe there is a lesson I need to learn.  I should give thanks in all circumstances.  I know, that can be a big pill to swallow, but it can be done!  th (14)

 

God knows exactly what I can handle in a 24 hour period.  I can’t worry about tomorrow or what happened in the past.  I must live for today!

Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, II press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”

Very Bad Day…

th (2)Sometimes are you just overwhelmed by the events of the day?  Everyone seems to be in a terrible mood and for some unknown reason it’s your fault.

That is how my day has been.  Before I knew it I was stressed and out of sorts with everyone.  I had to stop and ask myself…What’s wrong with this picture?th (3)

 I said a little prayer asking God to help me be His example each and everyday that He would be honored and glorified.   th

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:33-34,NIV)

Frogs in your life…

Seven days after the Lord struck the Nile River with blood.  The Lord told Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him,“Let my people go, so that they may worship me.”(Exodus 8:1, NIV) Moses was instructed to tell Pharaoh that if he refused…the whole country would be plagued with FROGS!  

This is one of several plagues that God would bring upon Egypt! Of course, Pharaoh refused. 

Frogs filled the Nile.  They filled the palace, the bedrooms, ovens, kneading troughs.  The frogs covered the land! 

Can you imagine…Mrs. Pharaoh standing up on a chair screaming!  His daughter terrified as they filled the palace.  Pharaoh chariots couldn’t be backed out of their dwellings…life was at a standstill!

Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”   Moses said to Pharaoh , “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.” (Exodus 8:8-9, NIV)

“TOMORROW,”  Pharaoh said.

Tomorrow…are you kidding me!  The reality is that Pharaoh wanted one more day to figure out how to do it HIS way! 

What are the frogs in your life…when are you going to realize that God’s ways are not our ways!!  In Isaiah 55:8 He declares…”For my thought are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”

Let’s not wait till tomorrow to rid ourselves of the things that plague us!  Let’s do it the LORD’S way! Deb~
