Bitter Apple

I have a Yorkie and I’m having a dickens of a time getting her house trained.  I knew in my research of Yorkies that they were hard to train, but this is ridiculous.

I’ve resorted to a spray “Bitter Apple.” It’s made to discourage bad behavior.  No, I don’t spray it on my beloved Sophie, but in the area’s that she frequents.

I was thinking, wouldn’t it be nice if that “Bitter Apple” spray would deter us from bad behavior.  From repeatedly doing the same thing, that we know isn’t good for us, over and over again.

God has given us an instruction manual to help with that very thing, “The Bible.”  We will never be perfect except in Christ Jesus, but if we will give our lives over to Him, “He promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV)

Each day we grow stronger in His hands, and before you know it those areas in our lives that might have been in question will no longer be of any importance to us.  We will wonder why we ever went there in the first place.  God gives us a new heart for Him and His will for our lives if we seek Him and all His righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)~ Debra

Believe

Have you read the book or watched the move The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg?  It tells the story of a young boy who’s near the age where he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus.

On Christmas Eve he is awakened by a train that has pulled up in his front yard.  The conductor steps out and tells him to get aboard.  He gets on the train to find other pajama clad children questioning just like him.

The train stops in a magical city which turns out to be the North Pole.  Santa appears and hands out gifts.  The little boy receives and silver bell from Santa’s reindeer harness. One catch…he has to believe in order to hear the bell.   Santa takes off on his rounds and the children load back up on the train for their trip home.  The boy reaches in his pocket for his bell realizing it has fallen through a hole in his coat pocket.

He wakes Christmas morn with all the packages under the tree but his eye catches a small box.  Inside is the bell and a note from Santa telling him to fix the hole in his pocket.

The last line of the book reads…“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them.”

It looks like to me that you have to believe for the spirit to work!

Scripture tell us “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.” (I Thessalonians 2:13, NIV)

Hmm, you have to believe before the word of God can be at work in you.  Maybe you are a non believer and don’t understand the ways of God or maybe you are like Santa’s friends and believed at one time but His voice has been silent.

It is never too late!  It doesn’t matter what you’ve done.  Say you’re sorry and Believe!! ~Deb
